LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Dr. Joseph D'Abbraccio upon the occasion
of his designation as recipient of a Young Professionals Award by the
SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young adults within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dr.
Joseph D'Abbraccio upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
a Young Professionals Award by the SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Joseph D'Abbraccio, owner and operator of Catskill Veter-
inary Service, was selected for this esteemed recognition for being
hardworking, ambitious, and creative; and
WHEREAS, Upon completing his education to become a licensed Doctor of
Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Joseph D'Abbraccio set off to Orange County
working at an emergency veterinary hospital in both Poughkeepsie and
Kingston, New York; and
WHEREAS, A practicing veterinarian for just under three years,
26-year-old Dr. Joseph D'Abbraccio returned home to Sullivan County and
started Catskill Veterinary Service, a mobile service which caters to
animals both large and small, from family pets to livestock and horses;
with over 450 clients, he upholds a reputation for being a concerned,
careful physician to well-loved family members; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Joseph D'Abbraccio relishes having the experience to be
more than a veterinarian to both the owner and the animal; he feels
privileged to become a part of their lives, making the animal feel more
comfortable in its own environment; and
WHEREAS, A 2006 Monticello High School graduate, Dr. Joseph
D'Abbraccio attended SUNY Delhi, SUNY New Paltz, St. Matthews Universi-
ty, and North Carolina State College of Veterinary Medicine; and
WHEREAS, At the end of 2013, Dr. Joseph D'Abbraccio joined the Wurts-
boro Veterinary Clinic, and continues to operate his mobile clinic with
the help of his brother; and
WHEREAS, Active in his community as well as his profession, Dr. Joseph
D'Abbraccio belongs to numerous local and professional organizations
including serving as President-Elect for the Monticello Rotary, Board
member for Pets Alive Animal Sanctuary, Board member of the Hudson
Valley Veterinary Medical Society, and member of the Sullivan County
Chamber of Commerce; he also volunteers with the local 4-H program, and
Catskill Animal Rescue and Guiding Eyes for the Blind; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Dr. Joseph D'Abbraccio provides veterinary
services for the local police dogs in both Orange and Sullivan counties;
and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. Joseph D'Abbraccio upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of a Young Professionals Award by the SULLIVAN COUNTY
DEMOCRAT; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dr. Joseph D'Abbraccio.
