LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Devon Wuagneux upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Senior Scholar Humanities Award by the
Orange-Ulster BOCES on May 1, 2015

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Devon Wuagneux
upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Senior Scholar
Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES celebrated at its Second
Annual Awards Breakfast, on May 1, 2015, at Kuhl's Highland House,
Middletown, New York; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious award recognizes outstanding high school
students for their accomplishments and/or performances in the arts,
including fine arts, theater, and music; and
WHEREAS, Devon Wuagneux has distinguished herself as a young woman of
superlative ability, talent, and maturity, establishing standards of
excellence and achievement, purposefulness of life, and responsibility
rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, A Senior at Goshen High School, Goshen, New York, Devon Wuag-
neux has plans to major in Communications at Villanova University,
Villanova, Pennsylvania, after graduating; she would then like to
continue her education in law school; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding vocalist, Devon Wuagneux has enjoyed being a
part of the spring musical for the last four years, most recently play-
ing the role of Mary Poppins; she has also participated in All-County
Chorus, Area All-State Chorus, and NYSSMA; and
WHEREAS, Devon Wuagneux holds several leadership positions in various
clubs, including Vice President of the Student Senate, President of the
Performing Arts Club, and a Student Government representative; and
WHEREAS, Throughout high school, Devon Wuagneux has volunteered weekly
at the Catholic Charities preschool and assists in fundraising efforts
for both her school and community as a representative of a variety of
clubs and organizations; and
WHEREAS, During her Senior year, Devon Wuagneux served as an intern at
a Goshen law office, and holds a part-time position at a local restau-
rant; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Devon Wuagneux
has brought honor to her family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Devon Wuagneux may stand with pride in her achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her accom-
plishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she
continues her education; and
WHEREAS, Devon Wuagneux represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of her
future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Devon Wuagneux upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Senior Scholar Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES, and
to wish her well in her future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Devon Wuagneux.
