LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Theresa Asmus-Roth upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the Women of Distinction Advocacy/Civic
Engagement Award by the Genesee County YWCA on June 13, 2015
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Theresa Asmus-Roth has given not only of her time and ener-
gies but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and conse-
quently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Theresa
Asmus-Roth upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Women of Distinction Advocacy/Civic Engagement Award by the Genesee
County YWCA, to be celebrated at its inaugural Women of Distinction
Awards Gala on Saturday, June 13, 2015, at Stuart Steiner Theatre, Gene-
see Community College, Batavia, New York; and
WHEREAS, Theresa Asmus-Roth has been called upon to contribute her
time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of herself unstintingly; she has served in several capaci-
ties throughout her illustrious 13-year tenure with RESTORE Sexual
Assault Services; and
WHEREAS, RESTORE Sexual Assault Services provides crisis intervention
and support services to women, children and men who are survivors of
sexual assault and to their families; trained counselors are available
to provide information and support, enabling clients to make informed
choices concerning medical, legal and counseling needs, while offering
advocacy and information about their rights; and
WHEREAS, A steadfast and unwavering advocate for victims of sexual
crimes, Theresa Asmus-Roth has served this vital organization as a
volunteer emergency medical technician, co-facilitator for a domestic
violence offenders group, and coordinator of the county's Crime Victims'
Rights Week planning committee; and
WHEREAS, In addition, this exemplary woman is a direct service provid-
er, community educator, victim advocate and coordinator/supervisor of
services; she is also President of the Batavia Kiwanis Club; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Theresa Asmus-Roth has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Theresa Asmus-Roth has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Theresa Asmus-Roth upon the occasion of her designation as recipi-
ent of the Women of Distinction Advocacy/Civic Engagement Award by the
Genesee County YWCA on June 13, 2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Theresa Asmus-Roth.
