LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Sari Latto upon the occasion of her
retirement after many years of distinguished service in the field of
education
WHEREAS, New York State's commitment to education is unparalleled; its
history and stature are secured by the superlative caliber of its educa-
tional professionals and the students they inspire; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of those outstanding
educational leaders, whose dedication and achievements have been instru-
mental in developing character and academic excellence in the young
people of New York State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Sari
Latto upon the occasion of her retirement after many years of distin-
guished service in the field of education; and
WHEREAS, Sari Latto began her illustrious career with the New York
City Department of Education in 1973; throughout her 42-year tenure, she
has served in both teaching and administrative roles throughout the
district including her time at MS172, PS46, MS216 and MS158; and
WHEREAS, In addition, she served for 17 years as the Principal of
PS41Q, the Crocheron School, in Bayside, New York; during this time, she
cultivated a staff of professionals, established a culture that is
second to none, and was instrumental in making PS41Q amongst the highest
performing schools in New York State; and
WHEREAS, Educators like Sari Latto provide a tremendous service to the
future of our State and Nation, inspiring generations of young people in
their educational journeys and ensuring their success in their future
years; and
WHEREAS, Sari Latto has clearly had an enduring impact on the youth of
the New York City Department of Education, as well as on the community-
at-large, and accordingly merits recognition and applause for her
impressive dedication to others; and
WHEREAS, In completing her service as an educator, Sari Latto leaves
behind more than mere bricks and mortar; she leaves behind a legacy to
the residents of the communities she so ably served and to future gener-
ations of its students; and
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of those individuals who work to support our proud tradition of
public education by providing their skills and talents to our schools;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Sari
Latto upon the occasion of her retirement after many years of distin-
guished service in the field of education; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sari Latto.
