LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Father Witold Mroziewski upon the
occasion of being promoted to Auxiliary Bishop by Pope Francis on July
20, 2015

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to applaud the just
recognition of men of the cloth who distinguish themselves and the
ministry through their unremitting commitment and long-standing preemi-
nence of service; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, this Legislative Body is proud to
congratulate Father Witold Mroziewski upon the occasion of being
promoted to Auxiliary Bishop by Pope Francis; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion will be celebrated with an Ordina-
tion Ceremony performed by Brooklyn Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio on Monday,
July 20, 2015; thenceforth, Father Witold Mroziewski will help the Bish-
op tend to the 1.5 million Catholics spread across Brooklyn and Queens;
and
WHEREAS, Witold Mroziewski was born on March 25, 1966, to Waclawa
Jablonska and the late Jan Edmund Mroziewski in Augustow, Poland; and
WHEREAS, In 1991, Witold Mroziewski earned his master's degree in
Theology from the Catholic University, Lublin, Poland; he furthered his
education by obtaining his master's degree in Canon Law in 2001, and a
Juris Canon Doctorate degree two years later; and
WHEREAS, On June 29, 1991, Bishop Juliusz Paetz ordained Witold
Mroziewski to the priesthood at the Cathedral of Lomza, Poland; his
first assignment was as Parochial Vicar in the parish of Kadzidlo,
Poland; and
WHEREAS, Father Witold Mroziewski was then sent to Brooklyn to minis-
ter to Polish ex-patriots in 1992; from 1993-2000, he held the position
of Parochial Vicar of Our Lady of Czestochowa-Saint Casmir, as well as
Pastor from 2000-2013; and
WHEREAS, Since 2013, Father Witold Mroziewski has faithfully served as
Pastor of Holy Cross Parish, Brooklyn; in addition, he holds the title
of both Associate Promoter of Justice for Criminal Cases and the Defen-
der of the Bond on the Diocesan Tribunal; and
WHEREAS, Father Witold Mroziewski has brought to his ministry an over-
whelming spirit of charity and compassion, acting from vision and
enlightenment in conducting his administrative and spiritual duties,
while always displaying the highest standards of personal and profes-
sional integrity and dedication; and
WHEREAS, This distinguished man of God has always given enlightenment,
guidance and wisdom to the many entrusted to his care and has adminis-
tered abundantly and unstintingly to the spiritual and corporal needs of
all; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when a person
of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our attention it is
appropriate to publicly and jubilantly proclaim and commend that indi-
vidual for the edification of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Father Witold Mroziewski upon the occasion of being
promoted to Auxiliary Bishop by Pope Francis, noting his unremitting and
compassionate faith and his exemplary service to God, man, and his
community, and extending to him the heartfelt best wishes of this Legis-
lative Body for a future of continued purposeful success and well-being;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Father Witold Mroziewski.
