LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Sister Catherine Sean Croghan upon the
occasion of celebrating her 50th Jubilee on Saturday, March 14, 2015
WHEREAS, The character and richness of religious and community life in
this noble Empire State are nourished and fulfilled through the faithful
concern and selfless devotion of those who would commit their energies
and purpose to the ministry of others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to bring full recog-
nition and just tribute to those individuals who distinguish themselves
and the ministry through their unremitting commitment and preeminence of
service; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Sister
Catherine Sean Croghan of Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, upon the
occasion of her 50th Jubilee to be celebrated with the Eucharist
followed by a dinner on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at the Provincial
House of St. Joseph of Carondelet; and
WHEREAS, Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet was founded in 1650, and
is committed to its mission of unity, reconciliation, nonviolence and
peacemaking, through concrete efforts toward its goal of communion with
the sacred, with the Earth, the Church and with all people; the congre-
gation's goal is to move toward a greater inclusivity and unifying love
that reverences diverse cultures and faiths, reflects the interconnect-
edness of all creation and gives direction to their ministry; and
WHEREAS, Born Joan Theresa Croghan, in Utica, New York, to John and
Catherine Croghan, Sister Catherine Sean Croghan is one of six children;
and
WHEREAS, Sister Catherine Sean Croghan has spent the last 50 years
serving both her community and faith, having held several positions of
service at St. Mary's Healthcare in Amsterdam, New York, as a teacher, a
nurse's aide, a Licensed Practical Nurse and a computer scheduling-pro-
grammer; and
WHEREAS, Sister Catherine Sean Croghan has brought to her healing
ministry an overwhelming spirit of charity and compassion, acting from
vision and enlightenment in conducting her administrative and spiritual
duties, while always displaying the highest standards of personal and
professional integrity and dedication; and
WHEREAS, This distinguished woman of God has always given enlight-
enment, guidance and wisdom to the many entrusted to her care and has
administered abundantly and unstintingly to the spiritual and corporal
needs of all; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when a person
of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our attention it is
appropriate to publicly and jubilantly proclaim and commend that indi-
vidual for the edification of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Sister Catherine Sean Croghan upon the occasion of celebrating
her 50th Jubilee, noting her unremitting and compassionate faith and her
exemplary service to God, man, and her community, and extending to her
the heartfelt best wishes for a future of purposeful success and well-
being; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sister Catherine Sean Croghan, Sisters of St. Joseph of
Carondelet.
