LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the New York State Association of
Counties upon the occasion of celebrating its 90th Anniversary to be
celebrated on February 2, 2015

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions which devote themselves to the welfare of the community and its
citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the New York State Association of Counties upon the occasion of cele-
brating its 90th Anniversary to be celebrated with a Reception "A Taste
of New York" on Monday, February 2, 2015; and
WHEREAS, The New York State Association of Counties (NYSAC) was organ-
ized 90 years ago as a bipartisan municipal association dedicated to
making county government a modern and efficient unit of local govern-
ment; and
WHEREAS, NYSAC held its first educational meetings and codified its
organizational structure in 1925; and
WHEREAS, NYSAC's membership of legislators, supervisors, county execu-
tives, administrators, commissioners, and other numerous county employ-
ees are responsible for the delivery of essential services to the public
on a daily basis; and
WHEREAS, NYSAC assumes the major responsibility for the expression of
the counties' legislative concerns, and the organization has a well-de-
served reputation as an effective advocate on behalf of the 62 counties
whose interests are represented by NYSAC at the state level of govern-
ment; and
WHEREAS, The Association further strives to strengthen New York
State's system of local government through legal research, education,
training and support to its members; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize NYSAC's
90 years of continuous and dedicated service on behalf of the counties
of this Great State, and to applaud the organization's expertise, spirit
of cooperation and commitment towards good government; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the New York State Association of Counties upon the occasion of
celebrating its 90th Anniversary to be celebrated on February 2, 2015;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the New York State Association of Counties.
