LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Chief Deputy Gabrielle Liddy upon the
occasion of her retirement after 25 years of distinguished service to
the Oneida County Sheriff's Office

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and honor
those distinguished officers and citizens who would devote themselves to
public service, demonstrating great courage and diligence in providing
for the care and welfare of the citizens of their communities and this
great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their exem-
plary contributions and service on behalf of others; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Chief Deputy
Gabrielle Liddy upon the occasion of her retirement after 25 years of
distinguished service to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office; and
WHEREAS, A life-long resident of Oneida County, Gabrielle Liddy is a
native of Rome, New York; as a young woman, she worked diligently to
earn numerous educational achievements including an associate's degree
in Criminal Justice, bachelor's degree in Public Administration, and a
master's degree in Criminal Justice Administration; and
WHEREAS, In 1990, Gabrielle Liddy began her illustrious career with
the Oneida County Sheriff's Office; since then, she has ably served in a
variety of important roles including Correction Officer, Officer in
Charge, Inmate Program Supervisor, Armory Supervisor, and Liaison for
the New York State Education Department's Incarcerated Youth Program;
and
WHEREAS, In addition, this esteemed public servant worked tirelessly
in such capacities as Public Relations Officer, Board Member of Alterna-
tives to Incarceration, and Commander of the Sheriff's Emergency
Response Team; and
WHEREAS, Following her first promotion to Sergeant in 1998, Gabrielle
Liddy was appointed to the rank of Lieutenant that same year; she later
received her third promotion to the position of Captain in 2007, and was
assigned to oversee correctional facility operations; and
WHEREAS, In 2011, Captain Gabrielle Liddy became the first woman to be
appointed Chief Deputy of the Correction Division in the history of the
Oneida County Sheriff's Office, and one of only a small number of women
to hold this elite position state-wide; and
WHEREAS, In her official acts, Chief Deputy Gabrielle Liddy served
with loyalty, honor, and distinction while maintaining the safety and
security of Oneida County facilities; she also provided sound fiscal
management which resulted in significant cost savings to local tax
payers; and
WHEREAS, Chief Deputy Gabrielle Liddy has received numerous awards and
citations during her remarkable career including Rookie of the Year,
Good Conduct, Promotion of Grade, Ready Commendation, Educational
Achievement and the Grand Cordon; she was also presented with the pres-
tigious Carl Draxler Award in 2013 by the New York State Sheriff's Asso-
ciation; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Chief Deputy Gabrielle Liddy is working towards
her Ph.D. in Law and Public Policy, and teaches as an Adjunct Professor
at Keuka College, SUNY Morrisville, and Utica College; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, Mark, and their
two children, Brandon and Brittney, all of whom feel privileged to be a
part of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body that those dedi-
cated public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the preser-
vation of order and the protection of others are worthy and due full
praise for their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Chief Deputy Gabrielle Liddy upon the occasion of her retire-
ment; and to wish her all the best in her future endeavors; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Chief Deputy Gabrielle Liddy.
