LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Post Dairy Farms, LLC upon the occasion
of its designation as recipient of the 2015 Agricultural Business of the
Year Award by the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are enhanced by the concerned and dedicated efforts of business organ-
izations and individuals that generously contribute to the welfare of
the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Post
Dairy Farms, LLC upon the occasion of its designation as recipient of
the 2015 Agricultural Business of the Year Award by the Genesee County
Chamber of Commerce to be celebrated at an Awards Ceremony on Saturday,
March 5, 2016, at Batavia Clarion Hotel, Batavia, New York; and
WHEREAS, Post Dairy Farms, LLC of Oakfield, New York, is receiving
this auspicious award for its continued growth and commitment to Genesee
County; and
WHEREAS, Post Dairy Farms, LLC is truly a family-run business; Jeff
Post, a fifth-generation farmer, shares ownership with his father, Dan,
and uncle, John; under their outstanding leadership, Post Farms contin-
ues to grow, innovate and prosper; and
WHEREAS, In 1890, Jeff Post's great-great-grandfather bought the 100
acres which would become Post Dairy Farms; the farm was comprised of a
barn, a house and some cows to start with, and each generation has added
on; and
WHEREAS, In 2001, Jeff Post got his Bachelor's degree in Animal
Science from Cornell University; he then spent the next eight years
working on other farms, learning the business; and
WHEREAS, By 2008, the family wanted him back on the Post Dairy Farms,
and subsequently, Jeff Post returned home and now, at age 34, acts as
the herd manager; his uncle, John, handles crops; his father, Dan, and
grandfather, Ken, work the fields; and his aunt, Laurie, takes care of
the calves; and
WHEREAS, The last big expansion of the farm came in 1987, when Post
Dairy Farms, LLC went from 180 cows to 230; since then the herd has
grown to approximately 350 cows; and
WHEREAS, In 2010, the Post family built a new milking parlor which
features four robotic milking stalls; cows in the robot barn are milked
three times a day with very little farmer intervention; and
WHEREAS, To support the dairy operation, the Post family manages 750
acres of land, growing oats, wheat, corn, alfalfa and a hybrid grain
known as triticale, primarily as feed for the cattle; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges this exceptional business and its contributions to the local and
State economies, fully confident that it will continue to enjoy the
sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Post Dairy Farms, LLC upon the occasion of its designation as
recipient of the 2015 Agricultural Business of the Year Award by the
Genesee County Chamber of Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jeff Post, Dan Post, and John Post, co-owners, Post Dairy
Farms, LLC.
