LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Lora Pearlman upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the William B. Joslin Outstanding Perform-
ance Award by New York State Industries for the Disabled

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
just tribute to those citizens who embody the true American spirit,
demonstrating personal courage and determination; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Lora
Pearlman upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
William B. Joslin Outstanding Performance Award by New York State Indus-
tries for the Disabled; and
WHEREAS, The Annual Joslin Awards Program of New York State Industries
for the Disabled (NYSID) respectfully acknowledges individuals in New
York communities who strengthen the Preferred Source Program through
jobs well done; and
WHEREAS, Lora Pearlman is a dedicated employee of Sullivan ARC's work
center, known throughout New York State as Sullivan Industries, where
she has been employed since 2009; and
WHEREAS, Lora Pearlman grew up in Brooklyn, New York, where she lived
with her parents and two brothers; eventually relocating to Pennsylva-
nia, her family wanted to give her more opportunities and moved her into
a non-profit agency, where she began to learn skills to help her gain
more independence; and
WHEREAS, Over the years, Lora Pearlman has served in several capaci-
ties including in the food service industry, where she helped with food
preparation, table setting and various kitchen jobs; in addition, she
worked in a local restaurant, rental center and a fitness gym; and
WHEREAS, Today, Lora Pearlman is working on a NYSID Preferred Source
contract in the C-Fold paper towel room where her responsibilities
include stacking, wrapping, making masters, and packing the paper
towels; these towels are then distributed throughout New York State
colleges, state offices, and the New York City Department of Transporta-
tion, among others; and
WHEREAS, An active and involved member of her community, Lora Pearlman
is an avid volunteer with Meals on Wheels and a local senior center; and
WHEREAS, In the faithful performance of her duties and responsibil-
ities, Lora Pearlman's ongoing efforts and notable achievements have
significantly contributed to bettering the quality of life in her commu-
nity; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such enduring courage and accomplishment are brought to our
attention, it is appropriate to publicly proclaim and commend those
individuals for the edification and emulation of others; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Lora Pearlman upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the William B. Joslin Outstanding Performance Award by New York State
Industries for the Disabled, and to wish her continued success in all
her future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Lora Pearlman.
