LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating the members of Ulster BOCES
Pre-University/New Visions Advanced Robotics & Engineering and Health
upon the occasion of being named a 2015-2016 InvenTeam

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor the youth of
today, and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and achievements exem-
plify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and Nation;
and
WHEREAS, It is also the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize
the dedication and commitment of our young people who distinguish them-
selves through excellence in science and academic competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late the members of Ulster BOCES Pre-University/New Visions Advanced
Robotics & Engineering and Health upon the occasion of being named a
2015-2016 InvenTeam on Wednesday, October 14, 2015, in Cambridge, Massa-
chusetts; and
WHEREAS, InvenTeams is a national grants initiative created by the
Lemelson-MIT Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology; this
initiative is highly competitive and offers a rewarding hands-on educa-
tional component which exposes high school students to the invention
process; and
WHEREAS, To be named an InvenTeam, students must work diligently and
cooperate together on problems while applying basic engineering princi-
ples to their solutions; 14 student teams are chosen nationwide for
their efforts to address social and environmental issues through scien-
tific innovation; and
WHEREAS, For their team project, the student members of the Ulster
BOCES Pre-University/New Visions Advanced Robotics & Engineering and
Health designed and produced a Robotic Exoskeleton to aid people with
hand paralysis and assist in their recovery; and
WHEREAS, On February 24, 2016, these exceptional students will show-
case the progress they have made designing and manufacturing this robot-
ic exoskeleton glove which will be used to help people who have suffered
the loss of hand function due to conditions such as stroke or traumatic
brain injury; and
WHEREAS, Instructors Mark Harris and Dina Navara have guided their
team with exemplary wisdom, ingenuity, compassion and knowledge, and
should be commended for their outstanding dedication; and
WHEREAS, The Ulster BOCES Pre-University/New Visions Advanced Robotics
& Engineering and Health 2015-2016 InvenTeam includes Mark Castellanos,
Ari (Laurel) DelTufo, Dakoda DiFiore, Marisa Jankowski, Elijah Leveque,
Cameron Miller, Alexander Treloar, Daniel Waligurski, Michaela Brocchet-
ti, Adriana Crimi, Farheen Fatima, Alexandra Jacone, Casey McCord, Vibhu
Patel, and Melissa Voerg; and
WHEREAS, It is appropriate to celebrate the educational and scientific
accomplishments of remarkable programs like Ulster BOCES, and its
students, instructors and teachers; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the members of Ulster BOCES Pre-University/New Visions
Advanced Robotics & Engineering and Health upon the occasion of being
named a 2015-2016 InvenTeam; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the members of the Ulster BOCES Pre-University/New Visions
Advanced Robotics & Engineering and Health, and Instructors Mark Harris
and Dina Navara.
