LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Shore
Parkway Jewish Center of Brooklyn, New York, and paying tribute to its
Past Presidents and Elected Officials
WHEREAS, The quality and character of life in New York State is greatly
enriched by its religious institutions and the faithful and generous
service of those who devote themselves to endeavors of family, faith,
and community; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend institutions of such magnanimous conduct and bearing which
demonstrate a deep and continuing concern for others, and in so doing,
inspire others to do the same; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 50th Anniversary of the Shore Parkway Jewish Center of Brook-
lyn, New York, and paying tribute to its Past Presidents and Elected
Officials, to be celebrated on Sunday, June 7, 2015, at its Cherry Blos-
som Journal Luncheon; and
WHEREAS, An Egalitarian Conservative congregation affiliated with The
United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, this esteemed organization is
located in the Bensonhurst/Coney Island area, and offers a variety of
services, learning opportunities, and programs for its congregants with
a goal of creating a warm, comfortable environment for all; and
WHEREAS, The Shore Parkway Jewish Center Hebrew School is a welcoming,
nurturing, and inclusive program which provides children with an under-
standing and love for Judaism and its traditions; children also learn to
appreciate the richness of Jewish Heritage and to embrace the values of
their faith; and
WHEREAS, Each year at its Anniversary Journal Celebration, the Shore
Parkway Jewish Center proudly honors its members in recognition of their
enduring and outstanding service to the synagogue; and
WHEREAS, Religious institutions, and the many spiritual, social and
educational benefits they confer, play a vital role in the development
of the moral fabric of a responsible citizenry; and
WHEREAS, The Shore Parkway Jewish Center of Brooklyn, New York, has
maintained its integral mission to enrich the Jewish life and the total
Jewish community by developing and implementing programs for the recre-
ational, educational, cultural, and social needs of the community, and
by doing so, stimulate and amplify in individuals their sense of respon-
sibility to the local community and society as a whole, being guided by
the principles of Judaism and democracy, and creating an atmosphere
especially congenial to Jewish thought, beliefs and values; now, there-
fore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Shore Parkway Jewish Center of
Brooklyn, New York, and to pay tribute to its Past Presidents and
Elected Officials for their dedication and commitment to their communi-
ty, and their heritage; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Shore Parkway Jewish Center of Brooklyn, New York,
