LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Sarah Schreiber upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Elsie Jepson Memorial Award by the Ken-
Ton Friends of Youth Foundation on April 20, 2016
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and leaders
of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best exemplify the ideals
and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Sarah Schreiber upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Elsie Jepson Memorial Award by the Ken-Ton Friends of Youth Foundation,
celebrated at its 18th Annual Shining Stars Awards Dinner on Wednesday,
April 20, 2016, at the Buffalo Yacht Club, Buffalo, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Ken-Ton Friends of Youth Foundation is a not-for-profit
organization formed in 1997, to provide financial support for youth
programs and projects in the Town of Tonawanda and Village of Kenmore;
this vital Foundation collaborates with other community agencies,
schools, businesses, and service organizations, which share the common
vision of providing increased opportunities for youth; and
WHEREAS, The Elsie Jepson Memorial Award, sponsored by the Zonta Club
of Kenmore, is given to a young person from the Ken-Ton area who will
graduate or acquire their GED by June of 2016, and who is continuing
their education or is an individual going to school for Special Educa-
tion training; and
WHEREAS, The Elsie Jepson Scholarship Award was established in March
of 2004, to honor the memory and spirit of Elsie Jepson, Ken-Ton Schools
Pupil Services Administrator for over 52 years and a tireless champion
for children's rights, especially those with special needs; and
WHEREAS, Recognizing the value of her labors and the promise of her
future, the Ken-Ton Friends of Youth Foundation is proud to bestow this
auspicious award upon Sarah Schreiber; and
WHEREAS, A senior at Kenmore West High School, Sarah Schreiber plans
to attend Buffalo State College to pursue a teaching career; and
WHEREAS, With her sense of civic duty and her commitment to others,
Sarah Schreiber represents the best development of the potential which
is inherent in our most precious resource, our youth; and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, this
scholar now stands honorably, with just pride in her accomplishments and
in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding and appreciat-
ing the caring counsel and support provided by her teachers and parents;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Sarah Schreiber upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Elsie Jepson Memorial Award by the Ken-Ton Friends of Youth Foun-
dation on April 20, 2016; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sarah Schreiber.
