LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Monsig-
nor Francis J. Dillon Council Knights of Columbus on June 26, 2016

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those fraternal organizations of high purpose and worthy
accomplishment whose endeavors have faithfully served the welfare of the
citizens of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 50th Anniversary of the Monsignor Francis J. Dillon Council
Knights of Columbus on Sunday, June 26, 2016, in Whitestone, Queens; and
WHEREAS, The Monsignor Francis J. Dillon Council was founded on June
21, 1966, at St. Luke Parish in Whitestone, and was named after a
beloved pastor who served the parish for 46 years from 1919 until his
death in 1965; and
WHEREAS, Supporting the Knights of Columbus' four ideals of charity,
unity, fraternity and patriotism, the Monsignor Francis J. Dillon Coun-
cil assists the church and its community by funding various projects;
its members actively participate in those projects and are a true pres-
ence in the life of the parish and the community they serve; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, this vital organization hosts countless events
to benefit various community causes while increasing awareness of the
good works of the Knights of Columbus; and
WHEREAS, In so effectively carrying out its mission, the Monsignor
Francis J. Dillon Council Knights of Columbus has demonstrated the value
of fostering camaraderie in a shared vision of community service; this
mission is indicative of a noble organization which epitomizes the heart
and soul of what it means to be an American; and
WHEREAS, Organizations of singular distinction such as the Monsignor
Francis J. Dillon Council Knights of Columbus provide a model for
enhancing the quality of life in the community and, as such, merit the
grateful praise of the community of the State of New York; now, there-
fore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Monsignor Francis J. Dillon
Council Knights of Columbus on June 26, 2016; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Monsignor Francis J. Dillon Council Knights of Columbus.
