LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 60th Anniversary of Pine Bush
Equipment Co., Inc. in Pine Bush, New York
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those individuals and businesses which substantially
contribute to the economic vitality of their communities and the entire
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the sense of this Legislative Body to commem-
orate the 60th Anniversary of Pine Bush Equipment in Pine Bush, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Pine Bush Equipment (PBE) Co., Inc. was established by Edward
"Ted" Boniface and his wife, Dorothy "Dot" on March 5, 1956; the couple
purchased Pine Bush Farm Implement, a local Case agricultural dealership
on State Route 302; and
WHEREAS, Ted Boniface was an excavating contractor who built roads,
ponds, foundations and other things of that nature; he wanted a shop
where he could work on his equipment; and
WHEREAS, In the early 1960s, Ted Boniface's focus changed from exca-
vating to distributing equipment; in 1964, Pine Bush Farm Implement was
incorporated and its name was changed name to Pine Bush Equipment Co.,
Inc.; and
WHEREAS, In 1966, nine months of construction began to add much-needed
space to the rapidly expanding business; the necessary changes greatly
enhanced PBE's status in the community; and
WHEREAS, As the agricultural business declined in the area, PBE shift-
ed into the construction industry in 1967; together with Ted and his
wife and a workforce of four other employees, the business continued to
prosper; and
WHEREAS, In 1973, PBE became the first dealer in the tri-state area
for Komatsu and Kubota equipment; and
WHEREAS, Twelve years later, Ted and Dot Boniface retired and sold the
business to their children and then-CFO Elmer Dyer; in 1988, PBE opens a
dealership in Newington, Connecticut, which was called East PBE, Inc.;
in 1990, another store was opened in Wappinger Falls, New York, and in
2003, it was moved to a new facility in Holmes, New York; and
WHEREAS, In 1999, to ensure OSHA requirements for forklift operating
training were met, PBE built an on-site training institute at its Pine
Bush location; in 2004, East PBE conceived of and initiated a
construction program for students at the University of Hartford Magnet
School; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to its community, PBE hosted an inaugural golf
tournament to raise funds for the American Cancer Society in 2006; the
company also has participated in Relay for Life, raising significant
funds; and
WHEREAS, In 2010, PBE opened a NAPA parts store inside its Holmes
location, and in 2013, another one was added to the Pine Bush location;
and
WHEREAS, PBE is currently led by brothers Steve and Ken Boniface and
Holly Bodnar; the business' employees are all second- and third-genera-
tion family members who hold various positions; Mark Hufcut manages the
Holmes, New York, branch; Mike Bodnar, and Karie, David, Jim and Steven
Boniface comprise the sales team; Jason and Jim Boniface Jr. lead the
rental team, Drew Boniface and Tim Trojahn manage the parts division;
Kathy Trojahn, Barb and Lori Boniface are office administrators; as well
as Zachary Hufcut who works in maintenance; and
WHEREAS, Rounding out the team are CFO, Simra Alfonso, and East PBE
Branch Manager in Newington, Connecticut, Kevin Keroack; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges this exceptional business and its contributions to the local and
State economies, fully confident it will continue to enjoy the sparkling
successes it has experienced thus far; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize those
businesses within the State of New York which contribute to the economic
health and vitality of the communities they serve; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 60th Anniversary of Pine Bush Equipment Co., Inc. in
Pine Bush, New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Pine Bush Equipment Co., Inc.
