LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Chief Margaret E. Ryan upon the occasion
of her retirement from the Dryden Police Department after more than 20
years of dedicated service
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and honor
those distinguished officers and citizens who would devote themselves to
public service, demonstrating great courage and diligence in providing
for the care and welfare of the citizens of their communities and this
great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their exem-
plary contributions and service on behalf of others; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Chief Margaret
E. Ryan upon the occasion of her retirement from the Dryden Police
Department after more than 20 years of dedicated service; this momentous
occasion will be recognized with a retirement celebration in her honor
on Saturday, March 7, 2015, at La Tourelle Resort and Spa, Ithaca, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Margaret E. Ryan of the Dryden Police Department has served
in the esteemed position of police chief since 2002; in addition to the
day to day responsibilities as chief executive, she has been involved in
law enforcement and the community beyond the Village of Dryden for many
years; and
WHEREAS, Margaret E. Ryan is currently the immediate past president of
the New York State Association of Chiefs of Police and a past president
of the Central New York Association of Chiefs of Police; and
WHEREAS, As a member of the International Association of Chiefs of
Police, Chief Margaret E. Ryan serves on the Smaller Police Department
Technical Assistance Program Advisory Group; locally, she established
the Dryden Junior Police Academy and Police and the Community Programs
to foster police/juvenile relationships; and
WHEREAS, Active within the community she so ably serves, Chief Margar-
et E. Ryan is a member of the New York State Accreditation Council, New
York Women in Law Enforcement, New York State Justice Task Force, and
the Dryden Central School District Safety Committee, to name a few; and
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body that those dedi-
cated public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the preser-
vation of order and the protection of others are worthy and due full
praise for their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Chief Margaret E. Ryan upon the occasion of her retirement from
the Dryden Police Department after more than 20 years of dedicated
service, and to wish her continued success in all of her future endeav-
ors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Chief Margaret E. Ryan.
