LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Director Robert E. Hausrath upon the
occasion of his retirement after 40 years of distinguished service to
the Consortium of the Niagara Frontier
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those individuals
whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to enhance the stat-
ure of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Robert E. Hausrath upon the occasion of his retirement after 40 years of
distinguished service to the Consortium of the Niagara Frontier; and
WHEREAS, For the past four decades, Director Robert E. Hausrath
rendered faithful, conscientious and valuable service to the Consortium
of the Niagara Frontier, an organization which offers college degrees to
inmates in New York correctional facilities; and
WHEREAS, A 1967 graduate of the State University at Buffalo, Robert E.
Hausrath earned his Master's degree in Education at the University of
Miami in 1969; and
WHEREAS, Since its inception in 1975, Robert E. Hausrath has helped
develop the Consortium of the Niagara Frontier from a small 40 student
program, into a comprehensive educational program which has served over
500 students a year at three correctional facilities; and
WHEREAS, As Director, Robert E. Hausrath served with loyalty, honor,
and distinction, and was responsible for the planning and implementation
of program policies and procedures, as well as for the educational qual-
ity and fiscal health of the organization; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed man has been called upon to contribute his time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Robert E. Hausrath is the founder of the New York Inmate
Higher Educational Opportunity Program professional organization, where
he was elected to two terms on its executive committee; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Robert E. Hausrath designed and facilitated
workshops for students at Niagara University, and was a facilitator for
Peaceprints, an organization which assists inmates in their efforts to
transform their lives and make successful transitions to life in their
communities; and
WHEREAS, The recipient of numerous awards and accolades, Robert E.
Hausrath was recognized with the 1995 President's Medal from Niagara
University, the school's highest award, for his outstanding work with
the Consortium and its students; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife of 46 years, and their
son, both of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice
in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, In his official acts, Director Robert E. Hausrath was
governed by a keen sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of
human problems, earning him the admiration, esteem and affection of his
colleagues; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Director Robert E. Hausrath upon the occasion of his retirement
after 40 years of distinguished service to the Consortium of the Niagara
Frontier; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Robert E. Hausrath.
