LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating the County of Livingston upon the
occasion of being named one of "America's Best Communities"

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to recognize and
acknowledge certain occasions that serve as recognition of the good
works that become beacons of prosperity within this great Empire State;
and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late the County of Livingston upon the occasion of being named a quar-
terfinalist in the "America's Best Communities" competition; the county
received a $50,000 award to be used to further stimulate the economic
prosperity of Livingston County; and
WHEREAS, Frontier Communications, DISH Network, The Weather Channel,
and CoBank have created this three year competition in an effort to help
America's small towns and cities grow stronger and more vibrant, as well
as to inspire innovation and foster sustainable local growth; and
WHEREAS, Livingston County, sponsored by Corning Inc., will use the
next six months to complete their comprehensive Community Revitalization
Plans to advance onward in the competition and receive a $100,000 prize
to continue implementation of their strategy; and
WHEREAS, The community which is ultimately named "America's Best
Community" will receive a $3 million prize to assist with the revival of
the local economy and improved quality of life for citizens; and
WHEREAS, Their place as a quarterfinalist is a testament to the cali-
ber of leadership, resilience, and strength of the Livingston County
community, as well as their overall commitment toward enhancing the
quality of life for our great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Fulfillment of this competition, in April 2017, will result
in the generation of sustained economic momentum which will strengthen
Livingston County for many years; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly recog-
nize those communities who have achieved notable success in this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Livingston County upon the occasion of being named one of
"America's Best Communities"; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Livingston County.
