Senate Resolution No. 1125

COMMENDING Subhi Widdi posthumously upon the
occasion of his designation for special recognition
by St. Nicholas Home, Inc.

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of
and publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and
character who inspired and brought pride to our majestic Empire State
with their strong contributions to the community and model citizenship;
and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Subhi Widdi posthumously upon the occasion of his designation
for special recognition by St. Nicholas Home, Inc. to be celebrated at
its Annual Gala on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at The Vanderbilt in Staten
Island, New York; and

WHEREAS, Subhi Widdi was active in the St. Nicholas Church Community
as well as St. Nicholas Home; in addition, he was a generous supporter
and contributor of the home since its inception; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his life, Subhi Widdi gave his time and
financial support to various causes in the communities where he both
worked and lived; for his dedication and commitment, he received
numerous honors and accolades from several organizations and charities;
and

WHEREAS, The most significant lesson his family learned was the idea
that being able to help others is a great privilege and a gift that
people can cherish for a lifetime; and

WHEREAS, In November of 2012, Subhi Widdi died leaving this valuable
legacy for his children and their families; to honor their father's
legacy, the family has continued doing his work in every way possible;
and

WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Subhi Widdi stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Subhi Widdi displayed
throughout his life; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhanced the quality of life in their community and have shown a long
and sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly earned the recognition and applause of all the
citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Subhi Widdi posthumously upon the occasion of his designation
for special recognition by St. Nicholas Home, Inc.; and be it further


RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Widdi Family on behalf of Subhi Widdi.
