COMMEMORATING the 20th Anniversary of the Buffalo
Youth Hostel

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those organizations which substantially contribute to
the economic vitality of their communities and the entire Empire State;
and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 20th Anniversary of Buffalo Youth Hostel; and

WHEREAS, Since its inception in 1996, the Buffalo Youth Hostel has
been providing affordable lodging to travelers from around the world to
share their experiences with others; and

WHEREAS, Located in downtown Buffalo, New York, the Buffalo Youth
Hostel, one of the highest rated hostels in the country, brings over
6,000 travelers from around the world annually; and

WHEREAS, Catering mainly to backpackers, travelers and
out-of-towners, between the ages of 18 and 35, this hostel has also been
a main stop for individuals participating in cycling excursions; in the
warmer months, the Buffalo Youth Hostel partners with Go Bike Buffalo
and Breadhive Bakery to present free outside community bike breakfasts
and free bike registration by the Buffalo Place Rangers; and

WHEREAS, Since its inception, the Buffalo Youth Hostel has helped
diversify downtown Buffalo, by hosting various creative and artistic
cultural activities; during this time, artists from all over the world
have traveled to upstate New York to enjoy this new creative hub;
partnering with local businesses such as the Squeaky Wheel, Dreamland
and others, the Buffalo Youth Hostel presents local music and art; and

WHEREAS, Centrally located in the heart of downtown Buffalo's
Theater District, it is close to Town Ballroom, Shea's Performing Arts
Center, Historic Allentown, Buffalo-Niagara Medical Campus, Key Bank
Center, Harbor Center, Canalside, Coca-Cola Field, City Hall and Naval
Park, as well as the Buffalo-Niagara Convention Center; and

WHEREAS, Throughout all four seasons, this renowned organization
offers a communal homestead to travelers from all over the world when
visiting the scenic Buffalo and Niagara Falls region; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the Buffalo Youth
Hostel; and

WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body
acknowledge this exceptional organization and its contributions to the
local and State economies, fully confident it will continue the
sparkling success it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 20th Anniversary of Buffalo Youth Hostel; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Buffalo Youth Hostel.
