COMMENDING Dinorah E. Santos upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the 2017 Community
Leader Public Relations Award by the National
Federation for Just Communities of Western New York

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made
significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Dinorah E. Santos upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of the 2017 Community Leader Public Relations Award by the
National Federation for Just Communities of Western New York, celebrated
at its Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at the Buffalo
Convention Center in Buffalo, New York; and

WHEREAS, The Community Leaders Awards recognize
individuals/organizations in WNY who have made significant contributions
to this region through their involvement in volunteer activities and/or
their special achievements in specific areas of community and
professional life; Dinorah E. Santos truly exemplifies the National
Federation for Just Communities (NFJC) of Western New York's mission of
promoting goodwill, understanding, respect, and trust; and

WHEREAS, Dinorah E. Santos has served as the Public Relations and
Social Media Coordinator for the Amherst Chamber of Commerce directing
its messaging, Internet footprint, and events; she combines her
communications background with her love of people and cultures, helping
to create a just and prosperous community; and

WHEREAS, Dedicated to her community, Dinorah E. Santos uses her
public relations skills to foster racial/ethnic equality and to help
children grow into leaders; she has held the position of Chair of the
Miss Borinquen Latina Leadership Development Program, and is a vital
member of the Boards of Directors of the Hispanic Heritage Council of
WNY, and the Emerging Philanthropists of Color; and

WHEREAS, In addition, Dinorah E. Santos served as the
co-Communications Chair for the Buffalo Urban League of Young
Professionals, and participated on the Board of Directors of the Puerto
Rican and Hispanic Pride Day; and

WHEREAS, Dinorah E. Santos envisions a Western New York community
built on the strengths of everyone working together for the benefit of
all; as a young leader in her community, she knows that the first steps
to achieving equity are engagement and relationship building across the
traditional divides that exist in Western New York; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their

profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Dinorah E. Santos upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of the 2017 Community Leader Public Relations Award by the
National Federation for Just Communities of Western New York; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Dinorah E. Santos.
