HONORING Amanda Loviza upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of a Young Professionals
Award by the Sullivan County Democrat
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those young adults within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Amanda Loviza upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of a
Young Professionals Award by the Sullivan County Democrat; and
WHEREAS, Amanda Loviza was selected for this esteemed honor in
recognition of her hard work, ambition, and creativity, as well as for
her profound impact in and around the community of Sullivan County; and
WHEREAS, Born in North Carolina 28 years ago, Amanda Loviza and her
family moved to California, Maryland, Tennessee and Virginia during her
childhood, following her Marine father's military assignments and
business ventures; and
WHEREAS, At the age of 13, Amanda Loviza's dad brought home a
digital camera; already drawn to journalism, she began to take pictures,
and just three years later she landed her first freelance shoot with an
architecture firm in need of promotional photographs of buildings; and
WHEREAS, This keystone moment propelled Amanda Loviza into Western
Kentucky University's famed photojournalism program; she graduated in
2010 with a degree in News Editorial Journalism; and
WHEREAS, Amanda Loviza began her illustrious career working for the
Glasgow Daily Times in Kentucky, where her remarkable storytelling
abilities turned eyes towards the paper's pages; she went on to work for
a bed-and-breakfast in England, and for a short time, she picked oranges
in Spain; and
WHEREAS, Amanda Loviza's passion for travel has taken her to
Ireland, Ecuador, Guatemala, Morocco, El Salvador, Germany, Iceland,
Mexico, Australia, Honduras, Canada, Barbados, Chile, Denmark and
Belize; and
WHEREAS, Today, this esteemed young woman serves as a Media
Relations Coordinator for the Center for Discovery, where she is now
focused on showing a wide audience the wonders accomplished everyday at
the Harris and Hurleyville facilities; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Amanda Loviza upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
a Young Professionals Award by the Sullivan County Democrat; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Amanda Loviza.
