HONORING Lee Ann Brill upon the occasion of being
named 2017 Ms. New York Senior America
WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge
to the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their
past contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and
valuable asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those musically talented individuals which have brought
entertainment and cultural enrichment to the citizens of the great State
of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Lee Ann Brill upon the occasion of being named 2017 Ms. New York Senior
America on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at SUNY Old Westbury in Old Westbury,
New York; and
WHEREAS, Lee Ann Brill has a diverse background in music, musical
theatre and cabaret; for many years, she owned, fronted and ran a
successful band which performed throughout the tri-state area at
numerous events; and
WHEREAS, At the age of 46, Lee Ann Brill decided to get back into
the music business and follow her dreams by entering local singing
competitions including the Brookhaven Town Talent Showcase, Eisenhower
State Park Reach for the Stars and Long Island Idol WBLI; in addition,
she auditioned for "America's Got Talent", "The Voice" and "X-Factor";
and
WHEREAS, Lee Ann Brill truly believes in giving back to her
community; she has continued to sing at fundraisers and appeared at such
causes as Parkinson's Disease, Cystic Fibrosis, Breast Cancer Walk for
Beauty, and Children with Diabetes; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Lee Ann Brill has performed at the Ronkonkoma
Memorial Day Ceremonies each year, the Long Island Assisted Living
Veterans Home in Stony Brook, New York for their Memorial Day Ceremony,
Veterans Day ceremonies and their Veterans Graduation Day; and
WHEREAS, For her steadfast and unremitting commitment to these
causes, Lee Ann Brill has received commendations for her support to
Jacobs Light Foundation and continued support of the military and their
families by the Veterans of Foreign Wars; and
WHEREAS, For her renowned talents, Lee Ann Brill was chosen and
opened for the Vets Rock concert held at the Amphitheater/Bald Hill and
sang the National Anthem at Citipark Stadium for the Long Island Ducks
as well as for the Inauguration Ceremony for Ed Romaine; and
WHEREAS, In her free time, Lee Ann Brill enjoys writing lyrics and
music; two of these songs were picked up by independent films; and
WHEREAS, Excited to share her gift of music and voice, Lee Ann Brill
is proud to inspire women 60 years of age and older to believe in
themselves, remain active in their careers and continue to reach for
their dreams; and
WHEREAS, With her zest for life, Lee Ann Brill will no doubt inspire
other senior women to pursue their dreams; this exceptional woman
believes people do not have to stop living life when they reach a
certain age, and that it is important to touch lives and be the positive
change we want to see in our world, while paying it forward by giving
back; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Lee Ann Brill upon the occasion of being named 2017 Ms. New York
Senior America by New York Senior America; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Lee Ann Brill.
