HONORING Kenesha Traynham-Cooper upon the
occasion of her designation as recipient of the
President's Appreciation Award by The Brooklyn Club
of the National Association of Negro Business and
Professional Women's Clubs, Inc. on April 29, 2017

WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of
certain extraordinary individuals and organizations it wishes to
recognize for their valued contributions to the success and progress of
society and publicly acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the
basic humanity among us all; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Kenesha
Traynham-Cooper upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
President's Appreciation Award by The Brooklyn Club of the National
Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Clubs, Inc., to
be celebrated at its 50th Annual Founders' Day Observance Luncheon on
Saturday, April 29, 2017, at Gargiulos Restaurant in Brooklyn, New York;
and

WHEREAS, The theme for this auspicious occasion is entitled "72
Years of L.E.T.S. - Leaders Exemplary Timeless Service; Marching forward
with a purpose"; each year, The Brooklyn Club acknowledges its Founders;
"the shoulders on which we stand and the role and responsibility we have
to prepare our young people for the future"; and

WHEREAS, The Brooklyn Club is a chapter of the National Association
of Negro Business and Professional Women's Clubs, Inc. (NANBPWC, Inc.),
which provides opportunities for women to increase their leadership
skills, experience governance and parliamentary procedures, and enhance
their educational awareness of issues impacting the black community
through volunteerism; and

WHEREAS, Kenesha Traynham-Cooper is receiving this prestigious award
for her steadfast and unremitting commitment to her community; and

WHEREAS, Born and raised in the Bedford Stuyvesant area of Brooklyn,
New York, Kenesha Traynham-Cooper was raised by her late mother, Sharon
Traynham; her father, Kenneth Cooper; and her grandparents, Bessie
Traynham and Robert Chambers; these four wise people instilled in her
the value of education and the importance of giving back to her
community; and

WHEREAS, Kenesha Traynham-Cooper proudly earned her bachelor's
degree in psychology from Medgar Evers College; for many years, she
worked with Congressman Edolphus Towns; and

WHEREAS, In 2010, Kenesha Traynham-Cooper furthered her education by
obtaining her master's degree in Public Administration from Metropolitan
College of New York; since 2013, she has been pursuing her master's in
Divinity degree at Nyack College in the hopes of integrating business,
outreach, and ministry; and

WHEREAS, After the death of her mother, Kenesha Traynham-Cooper
created a program in her mother and uncle's memory entitled the Sharon &
Stephen Traynham Creative Arts Fund (SSTCA) for Sickle Cell Disease;
this vital organization sent patients to various art therapies such as
yoga, music, massage, and art; and

WHEREAS, In 2012, Kenesha Traynham-Cooper became a broker for a few
Fortune 500 Companies; in this capacity, she traveled the world showing
individuals how to lower their overall monthly expenses, and helped
businesses increase their profit margin; and

WHEREAS, Truly dedicated to helping others, Kenesha Traynham-Cooper
founded 4 Future Generations & Amira's Charisma Book Club in January of
2016; the company teaches children important entrepreneurship skills
which hopefully will inspire them to work in the business world; and

WHEREAS, Kenesha Traynham-Cooper was accepted in the National
Association for Business and Professional Women's Club, which she
utilizes as a platform to not only invest her time and expertise, but
also learn from some of the most powerful women in the community; and

WHEREAS, A faithful and active member of the Rose of Sharon Baptist
Church of Jamaica, New York, Kenesha Traynham-Cooper is also involved
with many community-based organizations including Volunteers of America,
the Bedford Stuyvesant Real Estate Board, I Made a Choice: Making Purity
Popular, the 79th Precinct Council, and the Association for Black
Educators of New York; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Kenesha Traynham-Cooper upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of the President's Appreciation Award by The Brooklyn Club of
the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's
Clubs, Inc.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Kenesha Traynham-Cooper.
