COMMENDING The HOPE Project upon the occasion of
celebrating its 6th Annual A Taste of Hope Event

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those organizations of high purpose and worthy
accomplishment whose endeavors have faithfully served the welfare of the
citizens of the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend The HOPE Project upon the occasion of its 6th Annual A Taste of
Hope Event, to be celebrated on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at Prince George
Ballroom in Manhattan, New York; and

WHEREAS, Founded in 1984, The HOPE Program was created to empower
New Yorkers living in poverty to achieve employment and economic
self-sufficiency; HOPE has transformed the lives of thousands of men and
women across approximately all of New York City Council districts; and

WHEREAS, In 2016, The HOPE Project served 450 people across
Brooklyn, New York, and Bronx, New York, making lasting contributions to
the sustainability of New York City communities; and

WHEREAS, In addition, The HOPE Project includes HOPEworks for
general careers, FOODworks for the food industry, Sustainable South
Bronx for green collar careers, NYC CoolRoofs which employs New Yorkers
and promotes energy efficiency and Intervine, its social enterprise
which employs its graduates in green projects citywide; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to The HOPE Project; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend The HOPE Project upon the occasion of celebrating its 6th Annual
A Taste of Hope Event; and be it further

RESOLVED, That this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transited to
The HOPE Project.
