COMMEMORATING the 100th Anniversary of Cornell
Cooperative Extension of Columbia and Greene
Counties
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals that are devoted to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Cornell Cooperative Extension of
Columbia and Greene Counties; and
WHEREAS, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Columbia and Greene
Counties is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to
strengthening families and communities, helping farms, protecting the
environment, and fostering economic development; and
WHEREAS, With research-based information from Cornell University,
this vital organization provides programming in agriculture,
horticulture, 4-H youth development, family and consumer sciences, and
natural resources; and
WHEREAS, Since its inception, Cornell Cooperative Extension of
Columbia and Greene Counties has responded to the needs of local
residents with unbiased, research-based information, tools and education
that people have come to depend on and trust; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, its programs are developed in direct response
to community input, and are based on the most current information
available from Cornell and other Land Grant universities from across the
nation; and
WHEREAS, The staff and trained volunteers of Cornell Cooperative
Extension deliver education programs, conduct applied research, and
encourage community collaborations; in addition, its educators connect
people with the information they need on topics such as commercial and
consumer agriculture; nutrition and health; youth and families;
finances; energy efficiency; economic and community development; and
sustainable natural resources; and
WHEREAS, Remaining true to its mission, Cornell Cooperative
Extension of Columbia and Greene Counties enables people to improve
their lives and communities through partnerships that put experience and
research knowledge to work; and
WHEREAS, The organization's ability to match university resources
with community needs enables Cornell Cooperative Extension to play a
vital role in the lives of individuals, families, businesses, and
communities throughout Columbia and Greene Counties; and
WHEREAS, Over its distinguished 100 year history, Cornell
Cooperative Extension of Columbia and Greene Counties has demonstrated
continuous service to the residents and communities which it serves; and
WHEREAS, The success of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Columbia
and Greene Counties is in direct correlation to the efforts of its staff
and volunteers, whose involvement is, and always has been, characterized
by an impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an
uncompromising standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the
organization and the community it serves; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Cornell Cooperative
Extension of Columbia and Greene Counties; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when
organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Cornell Cooperative Extension of
Columbia and Greene Counties; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Cornell Cooperative Extension of Columbia and Greene
Counties.
