HONORING Missy Iatauro upon the occasion of being
inducted into the first class of the Section IX
Track and Field Hall of Fame on May 20, 2017

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
outstanding athletes who have distinguished themselves through their
exceptional performance, attaining unprecedented success and the highest
level of personal achievement; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Missy Iatauro upon the occasion of being inducted into the first class
of the Section IX Track and Field Hall of Fame to be celebrated at a
Ceremony on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at Kuhl's Highland House in
Middletown, New York; and

WHEREAS, A 1976 graduate of Tri-Valley High School, Missy Iatauro
was the school's first Section IX Cross Country Individual Champion; she
later attended both Sullivan Community College and SUNY Cortland where
she served as the Captain of the cross country teams; and

WHEREAS, From 1979-2013, Missy Iatauro coached cross country, and
indoor and outdoor track at Tri-Valley High School; in this capacity,
she won 19 Section 9 Class C and D titles, and five New York State
Championships; and

WHEREAS, Throughout her tenure, Missy Iatauro crowned 19 individual
Section IX Champions in cross country, 67 individual indoor and outdoor
track and field Section 9 Champions, 134 outdoor track and field
Champions, five cross country individual New York State Champions, four
indoor track and field indoor New York State Champions and four outdoor
track and field New York State Champions; and

WHEREAS, After 34 years of dedicated service to the students of
Tri-Valley High School, Missy Iatauro retired as one of New York State's
winningest cross country coaches; and

WHEREAS, Missy Iatauro has been an inspiration to countless track
and field fans, as well as to the community-at-large, and accordingly
merits recognition and applause for her tremendous passion for the sport
and competitive spirit; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such outstanding athletic accomplishments are brought to
our attention, they should be recognized by all the citizens of this
great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Missy Iatauro upon the occasion of being inducted into the
first class of the Section IX Track and Field Hall of Fame on May 20,
2017; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Missy Iatauro.
