COMMENDING Hope Pecullan upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the Port
Washington Parent Resource Center

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and

WHEREAS, Hope Pecullan has given not only of her time and energies
but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Hope
Pecullan upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by
the Port Washington Parent Resource Center, to be celebrated at its
Masquerade Party on Friday, March 9, 2018, at Guggenheim Mansion at The
Village Club of Sands Point; and

WHEREAS, For more than 35 years, the Parent Resource Center (PRC)
has been an integral part of the Port Washington community, bringing
together families with young children to play, learn, grow, and make
life-long friendships; and

WHEREAS, Beginning in 1978 as a Mother-Child Home Program sponsored
by the Port Washington School District, the program was designed to help
low-income families learn successful parent skills; and

WHEREAS, In 1996, Hope Pecullan received her bachelor's degree in
literature and rhetoric from Binghamton University; during the summer of
1997, she worked as a volunteer in the New York State Attorney General's
Office; and

WHEREAS, Two years later, Hope Pecullan earned her law degree from
NYU School of Law; after graduating, she began her esteemed law career
as an attorney at Richard & O'Neil, where she specialized in general
commercial litigation; and

WHEREAS, After the birth of her twins, Hope Pecullan chose to stop
working, and devoted her time and energy to her children; today, she is
the proud mother of three children; while they were students at Sousa
Elementary School, she served as a class liaison; and

WHEREAS, Hope Pecullan has also been an active volunteer for the PRC
in various capacities such as Chair of the Outreach Committee, member of
the Executive Board of Directors, and helper with the Stepping Stones
Class; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Hope Pecullan has displayed
throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their

commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Hope Pecullan, that future generations may know and appreciate her
admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Hope Pecullan upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Port Washington Parent Resource Center; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Hope Pecullan.
