COMMENDING Dr. Nancy Hackett upon the occasion of
her retirement after six years of dedicated service
to the Sullivan West Central School District
WHEREAS, New York State's commitment to education is unparalleled;
its history and stature are secured by the superlative caliber of its
educational professionals and the students they inspire; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
the significant milestones in the distinguished careers of those
outstanding educational leaders, whose dedication and achievements have
been instrumental in developing character and academic excellence in the
young people of New York State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Dr. Nancy Hackett upon the occasion of her retirement after six
years of dedicated service to the Sullivan West Central School District;
and
WHEREAS, Nancy Hackett earned her Bachelor of Science degree from
SUNY Brockport in 1975, and her Master of Science from SUNY Buffalo in
1987; she furthered her education by obtaining her Doctor of Education
from the University of Rochester in 2009; and
WHEREAS, Nancy Hackett began her long and distinguished 43-year
career as an educator with Hilton Central School in 1975; from
1988-1995, she was a vital member of the Monroe Community College
faculty; and
WHEREAS, She then became the Head Master of the Harley School, a
position she held for 10 years; from 2005-2012, she held the title of
Principal of Brighton High School; and
WHEREAS, In 2012, Dr. Nancy Hackett assumed the role of
Superintendent of Sullivan West Central School District, the position
from which she will officially retire on August 1, 2018; and
WHEREAS, In her much deserved retirement, Dr. Nancy Hackett plans on
spending more time with her beloved family and friends, conduct
educational research, and travel without time restraints; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, John Hackett,
and their two children, Jonathan Hackett and Jenna (Michael) Strauss,
all of whom have shown her love and support and rejoice in her many
achievements; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Nancy Hackett's loyalty to the district and to her
staff is truly admirable; all who have had the privilege to work with
her through the years have known her to be an honest and hard-working
Administrator who always made the needs and concerns of her students her
top priority; and
WHEREAS, The driving force behind Dr. Nancy Hackett's commitment to
public education is her belief that all children have the potential to
do great things if given the opportunity; she prides herself on creating
an educational environment where students come first and expectations
are high; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Dr. Nancy Hackett upon the occasion of her retirement after six
years of dedicated service to the Sullivan West Central School District,
and to wish her continued success in all her future endeavors; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Dr. Nancy Hackett.
