CONGRATULATING Bob Lefferts upon the occasion of
his induction into the Port Jervis School District
Alumni Hall of Fame on October 8, 2017

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those distinguished citizens who devote their time and
energies to the service of their community and profession, participating
in civic affairs and enhancing the character and quality of life for all
citizens; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Bob Lefferts upon the occasion of his induction into the
Port Jervis School District Alumni Hall of Fame, celebrated at the 8th
Annual Port Jervis School District Alumni Hall of Fame Induction
Ceremony and Banquet on Sunday, October 8, 2017, at Erie Trackside Manor
in Port Jervis, New York; and

WHEREAS, Each year, the Port Jervis School District Alumni Hall of
Fame recognizes individuals who have achieved personal success and have
made a significant contribution to society, serving as role models to
inspire current and future generations of Port Jervis students; Bob
Lefferts is truly deserving of this great honor; and

WHEREAS, A member of the Class of 1959, Bob Lefferts served as his
Senior Class President, and was an exceptional athlete, lettering in
golf, basketball and baseball; he was also named to the Duso League
First Team in Golf; and

WHEREAS, After graduating, Bob Lefferts proudly served his country
as a member of the United States Army with the rank of 3rd Class Yeoman;
he was assigned to work in the Pentagon under former President John F.
Kennedy, leaving his position three days before the President's tragic
assassination; and

WHEREAS, Bob Lefferts then returned to his roots and became a Golf
Coach for Pensacola Junior College; he was also a vital member of the
Boards of both the Ohio Golf Association and the Greater Pensacola Golf
Association; and

WHEREAS, Devoted to the sport, Bob Lefferts volunteered his time and
energy to promoting golf by becoming a Volunteer Golf Rules Official for
the NCAA Golf Championship at Ohio State University, the Northern Ohio
Golf Association, the Orange Bowl Junior Golf Championship and the USGA
Open Section Qualifier; and

WHEREAS, In addition to his role as Owner and President of Bob
Lefferts Marketing, Bob Lefferts is the Founder/Chairman of the Board of
the Port Jervis High School Tournament Association, a charity which
awards financial assistance to college students who were members of the
Port Jervis High School or Delaware Valley High School Golf Team; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his professional and
community service, a period of constructive involvement, Bob Lefferts
has stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
individuals who enhance the well-being and vitality of their community
and demonstrated a long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly
have earned the recognition and applause of all the citizens of this
great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Bob Lefferts upon the occasion of his induction into the
Port Jervis School District Alumni Hall of Fame on October 8, 2017; and
be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Bob Lefferts.
