HONORING Sarah Goodrich upon the occasion of her
retirement after six years of dedicated service as
executive director of Schoharie Area Long Term
development

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of esteemed
residents of this noble Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Sarah Goodrich upon the occasion of her retirement after six years of
dedicated service as executive director of Schoharie Area Long Term
development; and

WHEREAS, Sarah Goodrich, the guiding hand for Schoharie Area Long
Term (SALT) development, is officially stepping down as executive
director on April 20, 2018, the esteemed position she has held since
taking the job in 2012 to help the Schoharie Valley recover from
Hurricane Irene; and

WHEREAS, Under the luminous direction of Sarah Goodrich, what began
as a recovery effort of volunteers working from a card table in
devastated downtown Schoharie, grew into a vital organization with
thousands of volunteers from across the country working out of the
Heritage House; and

WHEREAS, Sarah Goodrich was truly instrumental in the successful
clean-up and renovations throughout the Schoharie Valley, as well as in
getting people back into their homes; and

WHEREAS, For the past six years, Sarah Goodrich rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to Schoharie Area Long Term
development, earning the admiration, esteem and affection of her
colleagues; and

WHEREAS, In her capacity as executive director, Sarah Goodrich
served with loyalty, honor and distinction, and was governed by a keen
sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems in her
official acts; and

WHEREAS, With her throughout has been her husband, Dave, who has
shown her love and support and rejoices in her many achievements; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the occurrence of such a compassionate
blending of strength, leadership, intellect, and commitment as that
demonstrated by Sarah Goodrich over a lifetime of sacrifice and
dedication to others; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to

Sarah Goodrich, that future generations may know and appreciate her
admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Sarah Goodrich upon the occasion of her retirement after six years
of dedicated service as executive director of Schoharie Area Long Term
development; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Sarah Goodrich.
