HONORING Heidi Willins upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Senior Scholar
Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES on April
26, 2018

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its
young citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and
accomplishments exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great
State and Nation; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Heidi
Willins upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Senior
Scholar Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES which was celebrated
at its Fifth Annual Awards Breakfast, on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at
Kuhl's Highland House, Middletown, New York; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious award recognizes outstanding high school
students for their accomplishments and/or performances in the arts,
including fine arts, theater, and music; and

WHEREAS, Heidi Willins has distinguished herself as a young woman of
superlative ability, talent, and maturity, establishing standards of
excellence and achievement, purposefulness of life, and responsibility
rarely achieved in youthful years; and

WHEREAS, A senior at George F. Baker High School in Tuxedo Park, New
York, Heidi Willins will be attending Fairfield University in
Connecticut in the fall; she plans on majoring in business then
continuing her education in graduate school; she also plans on
participating in the Glee Club and the A Cappella Club at the
University; and

WHEREAS, Currently, Heidi Willins is Vice President of the National
Honor Society, a Girl Scout Gold recipient, varsity volleyball
co-captain, alto section leader, a member of Jazz Club and Salutatorian;
and

WHEREAS, During her four years in high school, Heidi Willins has
held lead roles in her school musicals as well as many performances
including All-County Choir, Jazz All-County Choir and Honors Choir; and

WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Heidi Willins
has brought honor to her family, school, and community; and

WHEREAS, Heidi Willins may stand with pride in her achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her
accomplishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she
continues her education; and

WHEREAS, Heidi Willins represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor

this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of her
future; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Heidi Willins upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Senior Scholar Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES, and to
wish her well in her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Heidi Willins.
