HONORING Jack Schenkman upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by the Orange
County Interscholastic Athletic Association as a
2018 Senior Scholar-Athlete

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its
young citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and
accomplishments exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great
State and Nation; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Jack
Schenkman upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition
by the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as a 2018
Senior Scholar-Athlete; this momentous occasion was celebrated with a
Breakfast on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at Kuhl's Highland House,
Middletown, New York; and

WHEREAS, Academically and athletically, Jack Schenkman has
distinguished himself as a young man of superlative ability, talent, and
maturity, establishing standards of excellence and achievement,
purposefulness of life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful
years; and

WHEREAS, A student at Warwick Valley High School, Jack Schenkman has
a 105.93 GPA and is the Valedictorian of his class; he belongs to the
National Honor Society, and was named an AP Scholar with Distinction;
and

WHEREAS, Jack Schenkman has also been a member of the soccer team,
the homecoming committee, and the Orange County Academic League; and

WHEREAS, After graduating from high school, Jack Schenkman plans to
major in computer science or engineering at either Columbia University,
Princeton University or Carnegie Mellon University; and

WHEREAS, Jack Schenkman gives tirelessly of his time and energies
volunteering at the Warwick Historical Society; and

WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for his classmates, Jack
Schenkman has brought honor to his family, school, and community; and

WHEREAS, Jack Schenkman may stand with pride in his achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of his labors and the joy of his
accomplishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as he
continues his education; and

WHEREAS, Jack Schenkman represents the potential inherent in our
most precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to
honor this young man, recognizing his achievements and the promise of
his future; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Jack Schenkman upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as
a 2018 Senior Scholar-Athlete, and to wish him well in his future
endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Jack Schenkman.
