CONGRATULATING Ignazio Terranova upon the occasion
of his retirement after many years of dedicated
service to the New York City Department of
Sanitation

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of esteemed
residents of this noble Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Ignazio Terranova upon the occasion of his retirement after
many years of dedicated service to the New York City Department of
Sanitation; and

WHEREAS, After a distinguished 20-year public service career
dedicated to improving the quality of life of New York City residents,
Ignazio Terranova will officially retire; and

WHEREAS, Born in Ribera, Italy and raised in Queens, Ignazio "Iggy"
Terranova began his career with the New York City Department of
Sanitation (DSNY) in 1999, as a Sanitation Worker; during this time, he
was assigned to multiple Sanitation garages in Manhattan and Queens; and

WHEREAS, In 2005, Ignazio Terranova was promoted to the rank of
Supervisor, and just one year later, after assignments as a Garage
Foreman in Queens and Supervisor of the Bronx Sick Leave Unit, he became
the Department's Citywide Community Affairs Officer; and

WHEREAS, As the lead uniformed liaison to the public and Supervisor
of the Department's Community Affairs Unit, Ignazio Terranova is a New
York City Department of Sanitation ambassador to members of the public
and elected officials throughout the city; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his illustrious tenure, Ignazio Terranova has
been instrumental in the successful organization of hundreds of public
engagement events, and has addressed thousands of Sanitation related
concerns and requests; and

WHEREAS, For two decades, Ignazio Terranova rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to the New York City Department of
Sanitation, earning the admiration, esteem and affection of his
colleagues; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Ignazio Terranova upon the occasion of his retirement after
many years of dedicated service to the New York City Department of
Sanitation; and be it further


RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Ignazio Terranova.
