CONGRATULATING Pioneer Bank upon the occasion of
being named a 2016 honoree by KIDS COUNT! at its
17th Annual Testimonial Dinner on September 17, 2016

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that the quality
and character of life in this great Empire State is indelibly enriched
by the faithful efforts of those financial institutions and their
leadership who devote their purpose to promoting economic vitality and
service the public need; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Pioneer Bank upon the occasion of being named a 2016
honoree by KIDS COUNT! at its 17th Annual Testimonial Dinner to be held
at the Watervliet Elks Club on Saturday, September 17, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Prior to the dinner, Coach Mike Deane will lead his annual
Basketball Clinic at the Watervliet Dome, a free event open to both boys
and girls of all skill levels; and

WHEREAS, KIDS COUNT! is a nonprofit organization which raises funds
to enhance the lives of children through recreational, cultural, and
educational programs in Watervliet, New York and the Capital Region; and

WHEREAS, Founded in 1889, Pioneer Bank was established to serve the
city of Troy, New York and its residents; at that time, banks were
created for the people of the community, to promote savings, encourage
home ownership and provide financial support to help people build a
better life; and

WHEREAS, These were the principles behind the mutual bank model; a
financial institution whose management decisions were made for the good
of the customer and whose success benefited the entire community; and

WHEREAS, Over the next 100 years, Pioneer Bank continued to grow,
expanding its capabilities and reach, but always with the same values
and a deep respect for the founding principles; and

WHEREAS, From a single office open one evening a week, to
constructing a new Headquarters, Pioneer Bank reached out to serve a
larger community and create more jobs and opportunities for its
neighbors; and

WHEREAS, Many other banks followed a different model, guiding their
business to provide financial returns for investors and stockholders;
Pioneer Bank held firm to its belief that the customer, the employees
and the community should come first; and

WHEREAS, Currently, Pioneer Bank is the only mutual bank serving the
Capital Region of New York, a proud distinction that sets it apart from
other banks; this vital institution offers its customers a comprehensive
array of products and services, with competitive rates and the latest
banking options; and


WHEREAS, Pioneer Bank has a suite of sophisticated, secure and easy
to use eBanking tools, mobile banking apps and other tools to help
customers save time and do more with their money; there are branch
offices and ATMs throughout the area, some which offer special services
to fill community needs; and

WHEREAS, Pioneer Bank continues as a cornerstone within the Troy
community; it is a leader in local lending, with fast, local decisions
from people who know the area and go beyond expectations to make the
deal happen; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body looks favorably upon the strong role
which institutions such as Pioneer Bank play in strengthening the social
and economic fabric of our communities through providing growth
opportunities for citizens and businesses; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Pioneer Bank upon the occasion of being named a 2016
honoree by KIDS COUNT! at its 17th Annual Testimonial Dinner; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Pioneer Bank.
