COMMEMORATING the 50th Anniversary of Albany
Community Action Partnership (ACAP) to be celebrated
on Thursday, October 27, 2016

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Albany Community Action Partnership
(ACAP) to be celebrated with a Golden Dinner Reception entitled,
Honoring Our History, Changing the Now, Building Towards Our Future, at
100 State Street, Albany, New York, on Thursday, October 27, 2016; and

WHEREAS, This significant event is being held to raise awareness of
the vital services ACAP brings to the community; ACAP provides programs
and services focused on establishing long-term economic self-sufficiency
for Albany County's most vulnerable families; and

WHEREAS, Established in 1966 as Albany County's Community Action
Agency, ACAP is focused on breaking the cycle of poverty through
increased opportunities for the community members to acquire assets that
will help lead to an improved quality of life; and

WHEREAS, ACAP promotes its mission through three service areas:
Early Childhood Education, Energy Services, and Community and Career
Services; some of the prominent programs include: Head Start/Universal
Pre-K, Early Head Start Child Care partnership, the Family Court
Children's Center, Energy Assistance, Weatherization, Assets for
Independence, Career Pathways, Healthcare Opportunities Grant,
Supporting Parents Through Employment (STEPS) and Dress for Success
Albany; and

WHEREAS, ACAP also provides a comprehensive network of community
partners focused on bettering the lives of all members of the community;
this vital partnership relies heavily on community support, such as
funding and a volunteer network, to provide and guide services; and

WHEREAS, Over the last 50 years, ACAP has worked in partnership with
all facets of the community to monitor and anticipate needs and provide
programs necessary to minimize barriers to everyone; and

WHEREAS, ACAP is dedicated to inspiring change in individuals,
community partnering and organizational development; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it


RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Albany Community Action Partnership
(ACAP); and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Anniversary of Albany Community Action Partnership.
