Senate Resolution No. 689

COMMENDING Judith Spafford upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition by the
Sullivan County Democrat honoring Professional Women
and Women in Business

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interest of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and

WHEREAS, Judith Spafford has given not only of her time and energies
but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Judith
Spafford upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by
the 2016 Sullivan County Democrat honoring Professional Women and Women
in Business; and

WHEREAS, Judith Spafford earned her Bachelor's Degree in Physical
Therapy; after graduation, she went on to work at the Sullivan County
Adult Care Center, where she is currently the Director of Rehab
Services; and

WHEREAS, In this capacity, Judith Spafford evaluates and treats the
residents, including discharge planning and assessment of risk; she
oversees the rehab department including scheduling residents for
physical and occupational therapy, and other activities to help them
maximize their potential; and

WHEREAS, When Judith Spafford is not working, she enjoys practicing
yoga, reading, learning Mandarin, listening to and playing music, as
well as walking her dog Daisy, a seven-year-old Australian Shepherd and
Collie mix, who volunteers two days a week as a therapy dog; she also
volunteers at St. Peter's R.C. Church in Liberty, where she directs the
choir; and

WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband Michael, two
sons, a daughter and her stepchildren, all of whom feel privileged to be
a part of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Judith Spafford has displayed
throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Judith Spafford upon the occasion of her designation for special

recognition by the 2016 Sullivan County Democrat honoring Professional
Women and Women in Business; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Judith Spafford.
