HONORING Dr. Kathy Braico upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Henry Crandall Award
by Crandall Public Library on October 27, 2017

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished citizens who would devote their life's work
and purpose to community service, contributing to the welfare of the
citizens of their communities and this great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Dr. Kathy Braico upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Henry Crandall Award by Crandall Public Library, to be recognized at
its Celebrating 125 Years Gala on Friday, October 27, 2017, at Courtyard
Marriott, Lake George, New York; and

WHEREAS, The Henry Crandall Award recognizes one individual each
year who has demonstrated the values and legacy of Library founder Henry
Crandall (1821-1913), including generosity, perseverance, loyalty,
compassion, civic pride and philanthropy; and

WHEREAS, Kathy Braico earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology
from SUNY Binghamton in 1970, and a Medical degree from SUNY Buffalo in
1974; she is Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and a
Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics; and

WHEREAS, Co-founder and partner of Adirondack Pediatrics, P.C., Dr.
Kathy Braico also spent her illustrious 33 year medical career as an
attending physician at Glens Falls Hospital from 1978 until her
retirement in 2011; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Kathy Braico has been called upon to contribute her
time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of herself unstintingly; she currently serves as an
honorary physician at Glens Falls Hospital, as well as an instructor and
mentor in courses on Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Helping Babies
Breathe (HBB) and Essential Care for Every Baby (ECEB); and

WHEREAS, In addition to giving of her medical expertise in Haiti,
Jamaica and Bangladesh, Dr. Kathy Braico has traveled to Guatemala
annually on medical missions since 1998; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Kathy Braico is the author of several publications
including, "Megacode Guatemala," "Sister Irma" and "A Small Beginning, A
World of Difference"; and

WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to her
community, Dr. Kathy Braico serves as a member of the Board of
Directors for both Amorak Youth Services and Saga City (Japan) Exchange
Program; she also gives tirelessly as a volunteer for the Red Cross; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Kathy Braico has been the proud recipient of numerous
awards and accolades, some of which include, the Women of Distinction

Award by the Girl Scouts of the Adirondack Council, the Ruby Award by
Soroptomists Club Glens Falls and the Liberty Bell Award by the Warren
County Bar Association; and

WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, and their two
children, as well as three grandchildren, all of whom feel privileged to
be a part of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Dr. Kathy Braico has
displayed throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Dr. Kathy Braico, that future generations may know and appreciate her
admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. Kathy Braico upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Henry Crandall Award by Crandall Public Library on October 27,
2017; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Dr. Kathy Braico.
