CONGRATULATING the Town of Mount Hope, New York,
upon the occasion of being ranked number eight on
the list of 100 Safest Small Towns in America 2019
by SafeWise
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to honor and
commemorate those distinguished communities which comprise the noble
body of this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, The United States is filled with incredible towns, each
with its own set of credentials and clout to attract visitors from
around the world; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate the Town of Mount Hope, New York, upon the occasion of
being ranked number eight on the list of 100 Safest Small Towns in
America 2019 by SafeWise; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Mount Hope was ranked second on the list of
the 20 Safest Cities in the State of New York by SafeWise; and
WHEREAS, SafeWise devotes a great deal of time researching security
solutions, and shares its findings to make people's lives safer, easier,
or more convenient; each year it examines safety in cities of differing
sizes; and
WHEREAS, First settled by Europeans in 1733, the Town of Mount Hope
was created from the Towns of Deerpark and Wallkill in 1825; and
WHEREAS, Today, the Town of Mount Hope is comprised of approximately
6,904 residents with a 0.00 violent crime rate per 1,000 and .72
property crime rate per 1,000; and
WHEREAS, Located in the northwestern part of Orange County, the Town
of Mount Hope includes a federal prison, FCI Otisville, and a medium
security prison, Otisville Correctional Facility; three hamlets,
Finchville, Guymard, and Mount Hope; the Village of Otisville, and
Shawangunk Lake; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous leadership of Supervisor Chad J. Volpe,
the residents of the Town of Mount Hope have a bright outlook for the
future of their community, which remains a beautiful place in which to
live and raise a family; and
WHEREAS, Remaining fruitful over the ebb and flow of decades of
growth and change, the Town of Mount Hope continues its commitment to
enhancing the quality of life of its citizens, ensuring a positive
business, institutional and educational climate, and providing all
essential services; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the Town of Mount Hope, New York, upon the occasion of
being ranked number eight on the list of 100 Safest Small Towns in
America 2019 by SafeWise, and to enthusiastically salute its residents
as they celebrate this auspicious occasion; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Chad J. Volpe, Supervisor, Town of Mount Hope, New York.
