COMMENDING APC Community Services upon the
occasion of hosting its 21st Annual Spring
Extravaganza on April 14, 2019
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend APC Community Services upon the occasion of hosting its 21st
Annual Spring Extravaganza to be celebrated on Sunday, April 14, 2019;
and
WHEREAS, APC Community Services began in 1996 as a Consultant
Company, but releasing its larger mission, reorganized in 2000 as a
not-for profit community based organization with its goal to serve the
under-served communities of Brooklyn especially the Caribbean community;
and
WHEREAS, With the focus being health and wellness, APC Community
Services' launched the Caribbean Health Summit in 2010 highlighting
health disparities affecting minorities; in addition, this vital
organization hosts the annual Caribbean Wellness Day, where free
screening is provided to hundreds of residents; and
WHEREAS, In 2009, APC Community Services instituted the Caribbean
Heritage celebration which concentrates on the richness and diversity of
the Caribbean culture and its contributions to the United States; and
WHEREAS, In 2008, APC Medical Mission Team was established, and
since then, has provided free medical and dental services to thousands
in the Caribbean regions of Guyana, Grenada, Saint Vincent and Saint
Lucia; and
WHEREAS, The Medical Mission Team visited Ghana in 2019 and over
6,500 individuals received services; they will be traveling to Guyana to
conduct a Medical Mission and Medical Conference in April of 2019; and
WHEREAS, Today, APC Community Services is under the leadership of
its President/CEO Janice Emanuel McLean, Ph.D.; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend APC Community Services upon the occasion of hosting its 21st
Annual Spring Extravaganza; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Janice Emanuel McLean, Ph.D., President/CEO, APC
Community Services.
