COMMENDING Fernande Valme Ministries Inc. upon the
occasion of hosting its 10th Annual Gala on March
30, 2019, and paying tribute to this year's honorees

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made
significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and

WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of
certain extraordinary individuals and organizations it wishes to
recognize for their valued contributions to the success and progress of
society and publicly acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the
basic humanity among us all; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Fernande
Valme Ministries Inc. upon the occasion of hosting its 10th Annual Gala
on Saturday, March 30, 2019, at Da Mikele Illagio, Queens, New York, and
to pay tribute to this year's honorees; and

WHEREAS, Founded by the late Fernande Valme in 1973, Fernande Valme
Ministries began as an organization serving the Haitian population by
helping them meet their basic needs and face the challenges of an
immigrant life; and

WHEREAS, Today, located in the Flatbush area of Brooklyn, New York,
this vital organization serves all populations within its community and
beyond; and

WHEREAS, This years distinguished volunteers are: Emilia B. Charles,
RN; Malory Laurent, Pastor; Mercedes Narcisse, RN; Erna Bertoni, Chef;
and Denise Petit-Frere, Licensed Cosmetologist; and

WHEREAS, Over its distinguished 46-year history, Fernande Valme
Ministries has demonstrated continuous service to the residents and
communities which it serves; and

WHEREAS, The success of Fernande Valme Ministries is in direct
correlation to the efforts of its dedicated volunteers, whose
involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive
commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of
excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the organization and the
community it serves; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Fernande Valme
Ministries; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Fernande Valme Ministries Inc. upon the occasion of hosting its
10th Annual Gala on March 30, 2019, and to pay tribute to this year's
honorees; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the aforementioned honorees and Fernande Valme Ministries
Inc., Brooklyn, New York.
