HONORING Alan J. Goldstein upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the Third Age
Achievement Award for Business by the Senior
Services of Albany
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of
certain extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their
valued contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Alan J. Goldstein upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the Third Age Achievement Award for Business by the Senior Services of
Albany, to be celebrated at its 23rd Annual Awards Luncheon on Friday,
May 10, 2019, at Wolferts Roost Country Club in Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Each year, this auspicious event recognizes the
contributions area residents and professionals have made in their
communities during the Third Age of their lives; Alan J. Goldstein is
truly deserving of this prestigious award; and
WHEREAS, Born and raised in East Greenbush, New York, Alan J.
Goldstein's entrepreneurial spirit began at the young age of 13, when he
and his older brother bought, detailed, and sold used cars in their
front yard; and
WHEREAS, In 1964, Alan J. Goldstein and his brother opened a used
car lot in East Greenbush and named it Goldstein Motors, Inc.; 13 years
later, he opened Goldstein Subaru, his first new car dealership; and
WHEREAS, Today, the Goldstein Auto Group is comprised of four
franchises and five locations in the Capital Region; Alan J. Goldstein
employs more than 300 people representing eight manufacturers: Subaru,
Buick, GMC, Mitsubishi, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram; and the All-new
Goldstein Collision Center; and
WHEREAS, Devoted to his community, Alan J. Goldstein is actively
involved in many worthy organizations including the Mohawk Hudson Humane
Society, the Patriot Flight Program, JDRF, and Colonie Senior Services;
this remarkable man also contributes annually to hundreds of local
youth, sports, school, fire, police, community programs, fundraisers and
golf tournaments; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Andrea, their six
children, and their five grandchildren, all of whom have shown him love
and support and rejoice in his many achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Alan J. Goldstein upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the Third Age Achievement Award for Business by the Senior
Services of Albany; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Alan J. Goldstein.
