COMMENDING Michael T. Dealy Ph.D. upon the
occasion of his designation for special recognition
by the CAMBA Beacon Karate Program on June 13, 2019

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made
significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Michael T.
Dealy Ph.D. upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition
by the CAMBA Beacon Karate Program to be celebrated at its 25th
Anniversary Event on Thursday, June 13, 2019, at PS 361 in Brooklyn, New
York; and

WHEREAS, Founded in 1977, CAMBA is a non-profit agency which
provides services that connect people with opportunities to enhance
their quality of life; and

WHEREAS, CAMBA is a community of clients, staff, volunteers, donors,
neighbors and partners who work together to build an inclusive New York
City, where all children and adults have access to the resources and
support they need to thrive; and

WHEREAS, Michael T. Dealy earned both his Bachelor of Arts degree in
Literature and his Master of Arts degree in Semi-Comparative Literature
from Fordham University; he furthered his education by obtaining a
Master of Science degree from Pace University, and a Ph.D. in
Educational Psychology from Fordham University; and

WHEREAS, Since the 1960s, Dr. Michael T. Dealy has practiced the art
of Chung Do Kwon, Tae Kwon Do; for over 50 years, he has taught Tae Kwon
Do at hundreds of universities, schools and programs including: United
States Military Academy at West Point, Princeton University, Brown
University, St. John's University and Fordham University; and

WHEREAS, In addition, Dr. Michael T. Dealy has been instrumental in
setting up and teaching Tae Kwon Do after school programs for the CAMBA
Beacon Karate Program, and has served as a mentor to many inner-city
children and their families at various community centers; and

WHEREAS, Today, Dr. Michael T. Dealy is the Headmaster of the World
Martial Arts Association, with hundreds of martial arts schools across
the country and abroad; through the martial arts mentality of
self-discipline, control and humility, he truly believes challenges are
there to help us grow; and

WHEREAS, A firm believer in not just words but deeds, Dr. Michael T.
Dealy has volunteered for various non-profit organizations, and has
supported numerous schools and students; his generosity has inspired his
students to spread the good will of the true martial arts in order to
bring people together and to make the world a better place for everyone;
and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Michael T. Dealy Ph.D. upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition by the CAMBA Beacon Karate Program on June 13, 2019;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Michael T. Dealy Ph.D.
