HONORING Brennan's Bowery Bar upon the occasion of
its designation as recipient of the Large Business
of the Year Award by the Clarence Chamber of
Commerce on March 5, 2020

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize
illustrious culinary establishments which have positively impacted and
substantially contributed to the vitality of their communities; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Brennan's Bowery Bar upon the occasion of its designation as recipient
of the Large Business of the Year Award by the Clarence Chamber of
Commerce, to be celebrated at its 48th Annual Awards Dinner on Thursday,
March 5, 2020, at Samuel's Grande Manor, Williamsville, New York; and

WHEREAS, In 1970 David Shatzel and his brother-in-law Gerald Brennan
founded Brennan's Bowery Bar at Main Street and Transit Road in
Williamsville, New York, opening an old New York City style bar in the
suburbs of Buffalo; and

WHEREAS, Today, Brennan's Bowery Bar still stands at the same
location with their traditional Irish and American food menu, plus 29
rotating craft beers on tap; and

WHEREAS, Most recently, under the able leadership of David's sons,
David Jr. and Mike, Brennan's Bowery Bar has expanded to include a NEW
Bar and Tap Room established through a partnership with Thin Man
Brewery; and

WHEREAS, A true landmark in its community, Brennan's Bowery Bar is
the proud four-time winner of the People's Choice Silver Spoon Award;
and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, since 2013, this extraordinary establishment
has been one of the largest businesses in Western New York to support
the Special Olympics New York, annually hosting its give back night and
tirelessly fundraising for its local athletes; and

WHEREAS, The remarkable success of Brennan's Bowery Bar is due in
large part to its dedicated owners and staff, whose warmth and
hospitality are easily recognized by their loyal patrons, truly making
everyone who walks through their door feel like family; and

WHEREAS, For five decades, Brennan's Bowery Bar has stood as a
beloved establishment which has provided a friendly, open environment
for patrons to collectively gather and share their thoughts, ideas and
life experiences; and

WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body
acknowledges this exceptional business and its contributions to the
local and State economies, fully confident that it will continue to

enjoy the sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Brennan's Bowery Bar upon the occasion of its designation as
recipient of the Large Business of the Year Award; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Brennan's Bowery Bar, Williamsville, New York.
