        COMMEMORATING the 8th Anniversary of The Sanctuary
        of Elmont, New York
 
  WHEREAS,  Throughout  the  storied  history of New York State, there
have emerged among its noble  institutions  certain  houses  of  worship
which  have  become distinguished through their spiritual leadership and
commitment to service, and therefore warrant special recognition; and
 
  WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to take note of  a
significant  milestone  in  the history of such a religious institution,
bringing to the attention  of  the  people  of  this  Empire  State  the
commemoration  of  the  8th  Anniversary of The Sanctuary of Elmont, New
York, to be recognized with a Weekend Celebration on  March  7-8,  2020;
and
 
  WHEREAS,  Under  the  able  leadership  of  Reverend Omar Jolly, The
Sanctuary is a Bible-based  church  located  on  Hempstead  Turnpike  in
Elmont,  New  York,  which  seeks  to  base  all its beliefs on explicit
passages of the Bible or on biblical principles; and
 
  WHEREAS, Remaining true to its mission,  The  Sanctuary  evangelizes
the  lost  and  disciples  the  converted  in  the  Town  of  Elmont and
neighboring communities by building a church  of  image-bearing,  Christ
followers who live for God; and
 
  WHEREAS,  Through  compassionate  outreach,  scriptural teaching and
preaching  which  is  both  relevant  and  apostolic  in  doctrine,  The
Sanctuary  infuses  a culture of community into its church DNA, inviting
people to participate in the Kingdom of God and equipping them  to  live
whole-heartedly for Christ day by day; and
 
  WHEREAS,  The  Sanctuary  steadfastly supports its congregation with
events, gatherings, discipleship  groups  and  ministries  which  foster
cohesion,  truly bringing the influence of its ministry to every crevice
of the community; and
 
  WHEREAS, Today, The Sanctuary stands on the threshold  of  tomorrow,
prepared  to  meet the challenges of the coming decades, while retaining
that spiritual resolve which has so  characterized  its  glorious  past;
now, therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
acknowledge and pay just tribute to The Sanctuary of Elmont,  New  York,
upon  the  joyous occasion of its 8th Anniversary, noting with gratitude
and  respect  the  ministry  it  caringly  provides  on  behalf  of  its
congregation; and be it further
 
  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Reverend Omar Jolly, Elmont, New York.
