MOURNING the death of Isabelle F. Brown,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of her
community
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, it is the sense of this Legislative Body to
mourn the death of Isabelle Fleuranges Brown who died on Thursday, April
2, 2020; and
WHEREAS, The third of eight children born to Enrique and Pura
Fleuranges, Isabelle F. Brown earned a degree in Education from Hunter
College; and
WHEREAS, She worked for the New York City Public School system as an
educator and administrator; throughout her tenure, she touched thousands
of young lives by making incomparable contributions to empowering and
improving the well-being of her students; and
WHEREAS, Isabelle F. Brown distinguished herself in her profession
and by her sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the
welfare of her community; and
WHEREAS, On November 21, 1951, Isabelle married the love of her
life, Clarence R. Brown Sr., and together they were they proud parents
of three children; and
WHEREAS, Isabelle F. Brown's commitment to excellence, and her
spirit of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise,
including charitable and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Isabelle F. Brown, who spend countless hours listening to
music and reading, was both a faithful parishioner of St. Catherine of
Sienna Roman Catholic Church and a constant supporter of many different
Catholic charities; and
WHEREAS, She was also a devoted life member of Zeta Phi Beta
Sorority, dedicating her time and energies to its Stork's Nest Project,
a prenatal health promotion program; and
WHEREAS, Predeceased by two of her brothers, Joe and Noel
Fleuranges, Isabelle F. Brown is survived by her three children,
Clarence, Jr., Catherine Louise St. Cyr, and Richard Dean; four
grandchildren, Arn and Bernard St. Cyr, and Jordan and Collin Brown; and
four great-grandchildren, Sean Preston St. Cyr, and Elijah, Zoe and
Israel Brown; as well as four sisters, Irene McKay, Wilfred, Thelma
Thomas, and Marie, and one brother, Carmen; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Isabelle F. Brown leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
she served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Isabelle F. Brown, and to express its deepest
condolences to her family; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Isabelle F. Brown.
