HONORING Sergeant Shaun N. Carnevale upon the
occasion of his retirement after 33 years of
distinguished service to the Broome County Sheriff's
Office

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished officers and citizens who would devote
themselves to public service, demonstrating great courage and diligence
in providing for the care and welfare of the citizens of their
communities and this great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their
exemplary contributions and service on behalf of others; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Sergeant
Shaun N. Carnevale upon the occasion of his retirement after 33 years
of distinguished service to the Broome County Sheriff's Office; and

WHEREAS, After earning his Associate's degree in Criminal Justice
from Broome County Community College in May of 1983, Shaun N. Carnevale
was sworn in as Deputy Sheriff on January 27, 1986; and

WHEREAS, Shaun N. Carnevale was promoted to Deputy Sheriff Sergeant
on September 8, 2000, the esteemed position from which he retired on
Wednesday, January 30, 2019, after more than three decades of steadfast
and unwavering service; and

WHEREAS, A K9 Officer for many years, Sergeant Shaun N. Carnevale
performed numerous K9 demonstrations and assisted other local police
agencies; and

WHEREAS, With several hours of narcotic, bomb and tracking training,
Sergeant Shaun N. Carnevale was a member of the Special Response Team
(SRT) for 10 years, during which time he was involved in high-risk
operations involving armed subjects; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, Sergeant Shaun N. Carnevale served the Marine
Patrol, Motor Patrol, and as an Academy Instructor; and

WHEREAS, A true asset to his profession, Sergeant Shaun N. Carnevale
was an integral part of the Police Memorial Week committee from 1995
until 2019; he also served as a member of the Broome County Traffic
Safety Board from 2000 until 2019; and

WHEREAS, Sergeant Shaun N. Carnevale volunteered to assist at the
Staten Island Landfill recovery operation after the attack on the World
Trade Center on September 11, 2001; he also represented the Broome
County Sheriff's Office in Washington D.C. for National Police Week; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his illustrious law enforcement career, Sergeant
Shaun N. Carnevale has been the proud recipient of numerous awards and

accolades, including two lifesaving awards and recognition from the New
York State Stop DWI Foundation and M.A.D.D.; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Sergeant Shaun N. Carnevale was held
in the highest regard by members of the Broome County Sheriff's Office
and other agencies because of his unwavering dedication and commitment
to serving the community; and

WHEREAS, Because of the reasons stated above, and so many more,
Sergeant Shaun N. Carnevale will forever be remembered by his colleagues
as a Cops Cop; and

WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Laura, and his two
children, Ryan and Jessica, as well as five grandchildren, who have all
shown him love and support and rejoice in his many achievements; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
dedicated public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the
preservation of order and the protection of others are worthy and due
full praise for their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be
it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Sergeant Shaun N. Carnevale upon the occasion of his retirement
after 33 years of distinguished service to the Broome County Sheriff's
Office; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Sergeant Shaun N. Carnevale.
