HONORING Juliane Letren upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the Dinner
Table Doc at its Eighteen Under 18 Awards Ceremony
on March 9, 2019
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor the youth
of today, and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Juliane Letren upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Dinner Table Doc at its Eighteen Under 18 Awards
Ceremony on March 9, 2019, at Weeksville Heritage Center, Brooklyn, New
York; and
WHEREAS, The Dinner Table Doc's Eighteen Under 18 Awards Ceremony
was created to shine a light on students who are creating change in
their communities; unlike other awards ceremonies, the conversation will
lead a call to action for young women in the audience to participate by
pitching their own community centered initiatives; and
WHEREAS, Juliane "Julie" Letren is a college bound high school
senior whose remarkable leadership skills and independent achievements
secured her a paid position for the New York City Department of
Education as a sophomore; and
WHEREAS, At just 18-years old, Juliane Letren is an experienced
professional, having worked at major retailers in multiple commercial
arenas throughout New York City and averaging 25 hours per week; and
WHEREAS, This hardworking young lady did not allow her commitment to
her early career development to impede her academic success, receiving
High Honor Roll accolades while excelling in AP English Literature, AP
US History, AP English Composition and AP Biology; and
WHEREAS, As co-Captain, Juliane Letren led her high school
cheerleading squad to perform at the Barclays Center and participate in
Brooklyn's Breast Cancer Walk; her passion for dance has also led her to
be an international FlexN pioneer at her school and the leader of the
largest dance crew, Caribbean; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to her
community, Juliane Letren gives of her time and energies volunteering as
a Sunday School Teacher each week; and
WHEREAS, Juliane Letren has distinguished herself as a young woman
of superlative ability, establishing a high standard of excellence and
purposefulness of life rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, With her sense of civic duty and her commitment to others,
Juliane Letren represents the best development of the potential which is
inherent in our most precious resource, our youth; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Juliane Letren upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Dinner Table Doc at its Eighteen Under 18 Awards
Ceremony on March 9, 2019; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Juliane Letren.
