CONGRATULATING William R. Simone upon the occasion
of receiving the distinguished rank of Eagle Scout,
the most prestigious of Scouting honors, on March
23, 2019

WHEREAS, William R. Simone, through his diligence and rigorous
efforts, has achieved Scouting's highest and most prestigious rank,
Eagle Scout; the Eagle Court of Honor ceremony will be held on Saturday,
March 23, 2019, at Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department, Manhasset, New
York; and

WHEREAS, William R. Simone, who began in Cub Pack 101, crossed over
to Plandome Troop 71 after earning Cub Scouting's highest honor, the
Arrow of Light; he enjoyed camping with his troop in upstate New York,
where he earned most of his 35 merit badges; and

WHEREAS, Attending Boy Scouts of America high adventure camps,
William R. Simone experienced living on a boat for a week, sailing and
exploring St. John island; also, with a crew of fellow Scouts, he hiked
the vast New Mexico wilderness for 12 days with only a pack on his back,
covering approximately 80 miles and reaching the 12,000-ft summit of
Mount Baldy; and

WHEREAS, William R. Simone was inducted into the Order of the Arrow,
Scouting's National Honor Society; he also earned the Ad Altare Dei
Religious Medal and served as Den Chief, Order of the Arrow
Representative, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader and Senior Patrol Leader;
and

WHEREAS, Outside of Scouting, William R. Simone is an award-winning
competitive clay shooter and certified lifeguard; he also participates
in CYO basketball and volunteers for several charitable outreach
programs; and

WHEREAS, While attending St. Dominic High School, William R. Simone
played Varsity Lacrosse and Football and is an AP/Honors Student and
STEM Scholar; he is on the Principal's List and is an officer in the
Italian, Math and Science National Honor Societies; and

WHEREAS, America has achieved her greatest heights of glory through
the dedication, determination and tireless efforts of the outstanding
citizens of this Nation; and

WHEREAS, It is only with the continued diligence and devotion of our
youth, tomorrow's leaders, that America will maintain her glory; and

WHEREAS, The Boy Scouts of America and its members are dedicated to
the development of character and leadership in the youth of this Nation;
and

WHEREAS, The highest achievement of leadership in Scouting, earned
by approximately five percent of all Boy Scouts, is the distinguished
rank of Eagle Scout; and


WHEREAS, This outstanding young man has been involved in Scouting
for many years, has lived up to Scouting's ideals and has attained all
of the necessary achievements, including completion of a community
service project, which was successfully planned, developed and executed;
and

WHEREAS, For his project, William R. Simone cleared, refurbished,
cleaned and reorganized the archival attic of the Cow Neck Peninsula
Historical Society, an organization in Port Washington that collects,
maintains and displays historical artifacts about the community; and

WHEREAS, His dedication to the safety and well-being of the citizens
of Manhasset is represented through his project and demonstrates his
devotion to both community and commitment to others; and

WHEREAS, As he goes forward in his academic career, William R.
Simone plans on attending the Catholic University of America this fall,
working to earn a bachelor's degree in finance, while continuing the
ideals and principles of the Boy Scouts; and

WHEREAS, William R. Simone's perseverance in rising through the
ranks to Eagle Scout is a strong indication of his ability to master
difficult tasks; his accomplishment will enable him to emerge as a
leader, fully equipped to meet the challenges of today's complex
society; and

WHEREAS, This new Eagle Scout is a credit to his family, his school,
his community, his State and his Nation, and no doubt his future will be
filled with accomplishments of equal importance; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations, in
recognition of the significance of this meritorious achievement, to
congratulate and honor William R. Simone on achieving the rank of Eagle
Scout; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to William R. Simone.
