MOURNING the death of Dennis Matthew Howe,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of his
community

WHEREAS, It is with profound sorrow that this Legislative Body,
representing the people of the State of New York, is moved this day to
pay tribute to an eminent man of indomitable dedication whose public
service and accomplishments will forever stand as a paradigm and
inspiration for others; and

WHEREAS, Affectionately known as Matt, Dennis Matthew Howe of
Oswego, New York, died on Monday, March 18, 2019, at the age of 45; and

WHEREAS, Dennis M. Howe began his illustrious career as a temporary
Highway Maintenance Worker Trainee 2 for snow and ice operations at the
Broome Residency of the New York State Department of Transportation
Region 9 on October 6, 2006; he completed the snow and ice season on
April 5, 2007; and

WHEREAS, On August 20, 2007, Dennis M. Howe returned to the New York
State Department of Transportation Broome Residency Region 9 as a
permanent, full time Highway Maintenance Worker Trainee 2; he completed
his traineeship and advanced to the full level of a Highway Maintenance
Worker 1 on February 17, 2008; and

WHEREAS, During his tenure with the New York State Department of
Transportation, Dennis M. Howe was assigned to the Broome County
Residency before being transferred to the Tioga County Residency in
October of 2013; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, he completed several equipment/vehicle
certifications, including patch roller, front end loader, fork lift,
large dump, wood chipper, skid steer, tractor, sweeper and annual
one-person-plowing where he was both single wing and double wing
certified; and

WHEREAS, For 13 years, Dennis M. Howe rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to the New York State Department of
Transportation, earning the admiration, esteem and affection of his
colleagues; and

WHEREAS, In his free time, Dennis M. Howe loved spending time with
his family and friends, and enjoying the outdoors at his hunting camp;
and

WHEREAS, Predeceased by his father, Dennis; and father-in-law,
Gerald, Dennis M. Howe is survived by his loving wife, Alycia; a
daughter, Bre; son, Dalton; parents, Denise and Chris; two brothers, Joe
(Anne) and Christopher; sister, Alicia (Stephen); grandparents, Roger
and Pat Howe, Dorothy Ahern, Fay Hall; mother-in-law, Nora;
sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Stacey and Royce; as well as several
aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Dennis M. Howe leaves behind a legacy which will long endure
the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all he
served and befriended; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Dennis Matthew Howe, distinguished citizen and
devoted member of his community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Dennis Matthew Howe.
